It seems that the most common theme as of late on topix is all about surviving! Surviving the "What if!"

What if the economy collapses? What if we are hit by a solar blast from the sun? What if we're nuked? What if.... Whew

I just dont get it. Why do these peppers spend so much time worrying about Whats going to happen. It seems that they live in constant fear of whats going to be. Even when there is no evidence that these things will even occur. Not to mention the thousands of dollars spent on survival supplies that will probably never be used.

I mean seriously. I would not want to live my life in constant fear and constant worry about what may happen. Live life! Enjoy life! And face the challenges as they come.

If we are ever hit with a world wide catastrophe. What will you preppers be surviving for anyway? What kind of future and earth are you going to inherit when you crawl out of your bunkers?

Doom and Gloom.

Now preparing for single regional storm. Or a flood or some other localized disaster is fine. But shoot all these "END OF LIFE AS WE KNOW IT" messages are down right depressing.

I do for the hell of it its a hobby I guess.
Why do you care if someone is prepping you don't have to do it or read about it so why does it bother you?
Prepping gives me a reason to buy cool stuff and spend a lot of time in the woods its fun and resourceful you should try it me and some buddys get together a couple times a year and stay at my cabin shoot guns show off new toys and ride you should join us you can bring the grimlin we might paint it camouflage for you and put a 50cal.mount on top.

It dont bother me at all if some nut wants to spend thousands on something that will probably never happen hey more power to 'em .

I am simply discussing it. If people dont want the opinions of others, then dont post it on a PUBLIC forum.

And what you just described as Prepping. The cabin in the woods the ATV's the guns.... I dont call that prepping I call that VACATION!

Lets see.

I have several weapons with plenty of ammo.

I know how to hunt fish and can maters.

I love beging out in the woods

I have a garage full of fishing equipment.

I got several laterns, flash lights, portable colemen fuel stove, batteries of every size, axe, hatchet, a couple tents, plenty of warm outdoor hunting cloths, blankets, I know how to start a fire I know how to cook what I kill... etc

I know these moutains like the bck of my hand

Hey maybe I'm a prepper and never even knew it! HA!

But heck I dont call it prepping! I call it recreation.

I'm sorry I meant BEING out in the woods. Don't know what I would beg for out in the woods. A steady hand maybe, if I was about to draw down on a record Buck.

For those who are buying beer, pizza, chips and dip, or chicken wings for tomorrows Super Bowl game....That is prepping for something! If you go on a vacation, and save up money to go, that is prepping. Making preparations so you will be able to go.

Prepping is not just about gloom and doom. Only an idiot would think that way. It's being prepared for any situation that may occur, and you know that things happen expectantly, and unexpectedly in life.

If no situation happens, then pass on your supplies to your kids so they will have an advantage should something bad happen. I do not see how saving enough water, or food for your family is such a terrible thing to do, nor does it cost that much over time. In fact, it just may pay you to do so. Ya never know what tomorrow brings.

I do not live my life in fear, that's what the CHURCHanity "Sheeple People" do. I live for the now, preparing for what life may throw at me at any given moment.

That's called being smart in my book, not being stupid.

If you,(Raw), feel like life is such a box of chocolates, then give up your guns and ammo since things are just okay. Give all of your extra money, other than what you pay for bills, to a charity since things are so rosey.

Lastly, if you have an insurance policy, or life insurance plan, you are basically saying, I will get sick, and I will need medical help, and I need a way to pay for it, as well as have money for my wife and kids if I die.<-----This alone, makes you a prepper.

Preppers may be crazy, but they are not as crazy as people who do not prep.

I am not a fan of either team, so I am not that concerned who wins. It will be a rare Super Bowl year for me since I do not have a team to really pull for tomorrow.

I really do not know who is going to win. I just do not follow them enough to know their personal strengths and weaknesses.

I am an AFC fan mostly, so I guess I will pull for the Ravens.(I can't believe I said that. I hate the Ravens) LMAO. I hate the 40 whiners too! HA

I wish they both could lose.

That was wild for the Broncos getting Manning. They should not have lost that playoff game to Baltimore, but they did. Oh well. That's how it goes.

There was a movie called "The Blind Side." About a white family taking in this poor black guy and helping him to be the best he can be in life. That black kid grew up, and is now a Baltimore Raven, will be playing in the game tomorrow. His name is Michael Oher #74, and plays offensive tackle.

I'll be looking for your prepping story soon.

I have never heard of anyone storing food in bunkers in preperation of the Super Bowl!

You're the one that lead us to believe that you were preparing for all of these "End of days" type scanerios.

I watched the Super Bowl from my couch, not a bunker!

Now are you talking about preparing for MAJOR Earth changing disasters? Or are you talking about preparing things as simple as making sure your child has milk money before heading out to school?

Yer gonna have to narrow it down a bit "Preppie."

I'm sorry this conversation is over your head.

You need to reread what I just wrote to you previously. It's pretty clear.

Sarcasm will do you no good if you do not have what you need in a crisis situation.

It's not about gloom and doom, it's about being prepared for ANY situation, whether it's minor, or on a large scale. It's up to you how far you want to prep. I wonder for one split second after the lights went off in the Super Dome yesterday, did anyone think...TERRORIST attack, or disaster? After all, that's the same building that almost became a tomb after Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005.<----The reason people were in the Super Dome to begin with after Katrina, was because they were NOT PREPARED!

Well The first thing that went through my mind was.

"Some one get the dang lights back on and lets get this show on the road"

And if you want to discuss this with any seriousness yer gonna have to narrow it down a bit. WHEW!

Are we talking a major cotastrophe here? Or any thing? You cant just say we're discussing being prepared for ANYTHING and then expect to have any kind of serious dicussion about it. If you are talking about ANY disater you take the fun out of it. Cuase EVERYONE prepares for something to some degree. Good grief man. Lets trim this sucker down down a bit.

I'am trying to find ways to secure a nice retirement. But thats not what comes to my mind when someone says we shoud be preppers. And I dont think thats what comes to the minds of most when they hear the word prepper. When they hear that word they automatically think world changing, doomsday, life altering, plantet destroying events. Not what are we going to do if the lights go out!
