We need to do mental checks and a deeper back ground checks which would also include looking at all ppl who live with the gun owner or has aceas to the home which the guns are stored.
Better trigger locks
And better saftys on the gun

This just shows your ignorance all the way around, it's people like you who are a disgrace to America and it's 2nd amendment and even if the left wing "dumocrats" were actually capable of banning them it still wouldn't stop the criminals all together if they wanted them they could still get them and kill dozens more innocent people, it's just like dope it's illegal to sell it to other people but it happens anyway dont it? Laws are made for law abiding people and not everyone abides, IDIOT!!

Why do ppl need a fast car or 100 TV chanels or nice clothes?
For a honest person like me the 2 assault weapons I have i picked a biger caliber so that it would take down lath game deer, bear, and a big cat if I had to .
I taught both my boys how to shoot with them because
It is very accurate
Has good distance
Lots of extra parts on the market
Ammo is cheap
I would never use one for home defence if you hit somthing in your home say bad guy came in your bed room while you were sleeping and you hit him or her at the bottom of the bed well that round stands a good chance of going through them and probley the next 4 walls so that's not a good idea I have a 380 pistol and q pit bull for that.

Of all firearm deaths in the US, fewer than 2% are caused by all types of rifles. All types include single shot .22's, shotguns and the so-called assault rifles. It is safe to say that deaths occasioned by "assault" weapons are statistically insignificance.
CameronFromHarlan101010 asked "Why does anyone need an assault weapon?"

The 2d Amendment has to do with a "right." It has nothing to do with a "need." If the right were "suspended" (banned?) until a "need" arose, it would be too late, my friend.

When 2d amendment was adopted the army, national guard and state militias were armed with single shot barrell-loading, smooth ball muskets. Privare citizens had much better and more sophisticated arms than our army, such as it was. The 2d Amendment had nothing to do with hunting, self defense or home defense. It is there -- just in case -- we are someday again governed by tyrants and NEED to again revolt. As said by the founders, the "tree of liberty" needs to be washed in the blood of tyrants and patriots each generation.

Our founders believed that the folks who were employed by us to do the work of governing and of making fair laws should live in fear of crossing the line and ultimately -- OF US!

Statistics are interesting but tell a big story. If your child wants to go to Bobby's house and you say "NO" because Bobby's folks keep a gun and you are then asked if he might go to Billy's to swim in the family pool, what would your answer be to the Billy invite? Think now.

Your boy is 138 times more likely to drown at Billy's as he is to being shot at Bobby's.

In your words, the lives of 20 children and 8 adults is insignificant? The fire fighters? the motorist in Pennsylvania? All insignificant? Tell your stupid statistics to all these people you damn fool!

Nobody needs on, but there are milloon of cowardly idiots in this country. As for that fool cowboy's statistics, the chances of you needing an assault weapon in your home is about the same as your chance of winning the powerball 29 times!

brilliant. i'm not against guns but come on now, nobody needs or relies on assault weapons. you can still keep your shotguns, pistols, glocks, etc. theres no business in anyone owning anything more powerful than that for mere protection. trust me, a shotgun or pistol either one would stop a burglar or bear!

You are a disgrace to this planet. This old criminal with a gun bullshit is getting old. These people who are killing children, and innocent people everywhere are not criminals. Most bought their guns from licensed dealers. You damn cross eyed fools with your cowardly killing machines and your second amendment bullshit should be imprisoned. You are FOOLS just like the shooters!
