Two reasons Hicks would never take the G'town College job.
1) Money. You may not believe this but its true. Good high school jobs pay much better than NAIA job. I promise you the coach at Knox Central makes more than the coach at Union. The coach at Whitley Co makes more than the coach at Cumberlands, and I would bet that Hicks makes more than Happy.
2)Hicks' SC teams play in front of full houses of 3,000-4,000 fans most nights. NAIA schools play before mostly empty small gyms most nights.

I'll let Jerry Blanton reply to this. I saw him at the Dairy Hut and he was tellin' me how Hicks would do fine, finacially. Something about retirement at SC and his salary at G'Town.

Folks,
I went to college with Billy and I must say I'm a biased supporter of his. He's a class act and a great American. I think Billy would find a way to win regardless of where he went. Scott County has been good to Billy, and Billy has been good for Scott County. I hope he stays in Georgetown and grows old with Betsy.

you must have a kid thats on the bench or didnt make the team. its hard to say whos better. because mike jones doesnt have toyota to give everyones parents a job so their kid will come to scott county. out of all the great players hicks has had, none of the are from g town.
Very, very false.

True that a few (and that's a very few) of the players Hicks has had at Scott Co. were from other towns, but a large majority of his players at Scott Co. has been born and raised in Scott Co.

And even fewer of the players who have transfered in had parents who got jobs at Toyota. Name me two players whose parents got jobs at Toyota and their kids been star players at Scott Co.? Go ahead, name me two.

Also, how can you say Hicks recruits to win games, but not blame Jones for the same stuff? Jones has had very minimal success as a coach, and the years he was successful at Harlan City he had rosters full of player that lived in the Cawood and Cumberland school districts. Back when Jones won All A championships with Harlan, at least 4 of his starters (Todd Cox, Charles Thomas, Nathan Blanton, Casey Lester) should have all been at other schools.
