“The cadets, if they don’t like it here, are free to leave,” said Coldiron.

Then why did you have your people in the mountains looking for him?

They are not court ordered. It's supposed to be a volunteer program. I think someone has lied to them to keep them there.

Some are court ordered and hard crime juveniles. I can't believe they say they are there on volunteer basis. The treatment these kids get are inhumane. The first class graudated and they were treated worser than animals. The cover ups continue. Prayers for these poor children. How can grown men and women work there? Most have familys too. How do you sleep at night?

I am so tired of the (worser idiots) that keep telling false things about this Academy, these kids can leave if they are not court ordered, yes they are getting tough love because they have NOT done the things that are necessary to obtain a High School Diploma or a GED. This is intended to put them on a path of recovery, and not one of where do I sign up for my check, like so many in our area do. I am in hid facility several times during each week and NEVER have I seen a student being mistreated. Now if you somehow think that the military style of training is being mean, then you should take that up with the National Guard that runs these Academy's all over the country with great success. So say what you will this program works and works well in the rest of the US, why not in Harlan KY?

Thought it was a volunteer basis? Why would they be court ordered if it is a voluntary?

Why is the national guard teaching (brain washing) kids. This makes no sence let's see let a military branch teach my child the new world order.

Obviously, some people just don't get it when some kids/students have behavioral problems or can't listen to simple rules whether it's at home or at school.
Unfortunely, no one wants to accept the fact that their kids ( or others ) are on a path to destruction and hopefully this program will help.

I'm sure it's successful for some, but others there may be nothing that will keep them on the right path.

I'm glad there are people willing to take on the difficult task to reach out to those who need direction. It's hard bringing up kids/teenagers, especially if they have a defiant attitude.

So, where did they adapt such attitudes? home? school? tv? video games? who knows?

Maybe they are born with it, maybe they are bullied at school. Kids sense when they "don't fit in" and "teachers have favorites".
Maybe it's because it's where they live, who their parents are, what kind of family they came from. Either way, it's wrong to judge and show difference.
I taught my kids to treat everyone the same, but it only confused them as to why "others" didn't do the same.

Tough love, sometimes it's necessary. Let's pray it helps these kids.

Take my word I was in the last class they treat you like animals. Scream at you. Make you run until you throw up. If you mess up on your bed they throw it out in the middle of the floor. And you know how they said your free to go home. Whatever they want let you call home when you say I want to go home. They scream at you and tell you to take it and shut up.

They don't want to teach them the new world order. They wish to teach them proper spelling and grammar.

I was in the first class also... You must have been one the pansy boys that was there. First off the academy is great. They helped me get my life back on track with school and with my relationship with my family. If It wasn't for this academy I would probably be in jail for the rest of my life or on the side of the road dead. graduated the academy with my GED and I the time I wasn't for sure what I was going to do when I got home. But I have finally decide that I am going to go to college now and become a conselor for trouble youth and maybe when I have finished with college maybe I can help a young person that was in my position.. Thank you to everyone that works at the academy..

I wish i had never let my son go to that academy. He still has nightmares of that hell hole. And NO he is not a pussy. He was a good kid with a few problems. That hell hole didn't help the probs either. We worked on them our ownselfs. God and my son has forgave me.
