Does anyone know if the health department does free pregnancy tests? Pee or blood tests? And if they are not free does anyone know how much they charge? Thanks so much!

Their tests are no more reliable than an at home test! If you've had a positive test at home then I would schedule a doctor visit.

pregnancy test are free at the health department. (and to not all you) have to go to the health department to confirm the pregnancy before you can see an obgyn. so even after you take a home test you have to go the the health department they give you a free test and then if it is positive they give you a paper saying your pregnant and u take that to the drs with you. just saying

I was just speaking based on my experience. I told them I had took 3 positive tests and she said well you didn't need to come here, and told me to make an appt. at the clinic.

So i went to the health department and they confirmed I was pregnant, gave me a paper saying I was and all of that.. I'm just wondering how accurate are their tests? Do they test it from your blood as well or only urine? Because I was only there one visit and I'm not sure if I trust their results.

GO TO AN OB/GYN!!! What part of this do you NOT UNDERSTAND!!! They will do blood work and schedule an ultrasound!!!

You don't have to go to the Health Dept. You can go to your obgyn and tell them you had a positive at home test. Don't need a certificate from the health dept. OBGYN's know how to test you! Why would you think you have to go to the Health Dept. first!!!

Alot of women don't see an obgyn unless they are pregnant, they go to the HD for their paps, birth control, etc. If you don't have insurance it's alot cheaper.

Also if you get a paper from the health department saying you are pregnant you can take it to social services and see if you are eligible to sign up on medicaid, famis moms or whatever it's called and it pays for everything. You can get it even if you're not eligible for anything else because the income levels are higher.

They are the same as a Dollar Store test. They are usually accurate. You don't have to go to the health department to get proof of pregnancy. You can get that from the Ob/Gyn.

The health department didn't give me a pregnancy test or anything. I went there not long after I took a test at home and it showed positive.

Are you for real!? You can make an appointment with an obgyn at any time. They can do a test right there on the spot. You don't need a paper from the health dept to say you're pregnate. The doctor uses the same test that you buy over the counter. Plus if you are they can send you to health dept to get signed up on WIC. Use your brain.

Stop getting snippy at each other over a question the girl just wanted to know if they give free tests! If you already know your pregnant and HAVE Medicaid go ahead and go to the obgyn IF you do NOT have Medicaid go to the health department get a paper stating your pregnant so they can go ahead and process everything for your Medicaid, hope this has helped :)

That's a good idea if you are eligible for medicaid, but if not it is a total waste of time. If you have private insurance, Its faster just to go to the OB/GYN.

. OK people not everyone has insurance so they do have to go to the HD to get proof first before they can even get insurance to even go to an OB
