My son was arrested on May 16, 2007. The officiers of Killeen Texas tell me that they are allowed to do and say anything they want to including not reading my 17 year old son his legal rights. How is this possible? It is the Federal Law that rights of individuals are read to them. I guess the State of Texas really does think they are better than other states and is allowed to treat people including first time offenders any way they want. No phone call and no rights read to the individual who is arrested. I guess being from New York makes me stupid because I know the law and someone's rights do have to be read to them when they are arrested. So much for fair treatment of people. Unless you are in power, your hands are tied. What does that say to our kids and what opinion does that leave people in regards to the legal system and how they feel about the law and police officiers? An upset parent and american citizen of the United States. This is why police and the law is not trusted. The system wonders why they are not trusted; this is the reason why: NOT UPHOLDING THE LAW IF IT DOES NOT PERTAIN TO THEM IN POWER.

The law does apply here - don't let anyone tell you differently. Officers can be crooked, speak to a supervisor...if that doesn't work, contact the media.

OMG I was just browsing through and the neighborhood I live in is pretty quiet. I see a listing on there for someone probably just a few blocks down on the same street got put in jail for assaulting an elderly person. jeez! I know why I'm protective of my kids and don't let them wander too far I know they hate it but it's for their own good.

I would love to talk to the lawyer that considers cops SWINETROOPERS... I need some advice from someone with sense. I find police to have to much power and I have some serious questions to ask. So PLEASE reply to me with an e-mail or some way to get a hold of u. I think ur comment to the lady on thurs was very informative and respectful. Good luck in all u do for "the people."

Hmmmmm, it took me less than 30 seconds looking at the Bell County's web page. And if you didn't think of looking there...there are a number of search engines as well as white and yellow pages that will find the information you are having such a hard time finding.
