I have had lunch with my child at an on post school several times this school year. I can't help but notice that each time they use styrafoam trays and plastic utensils. I know that Ft. Hood is big on recycling so I can't help but wonder why our schools don't use the good old fashion washable trays instead of filling our landfills with tons of trash that does not decompose. My childs teacher recycles paper and cardboard in the classroom so why does the cafeteria not set the same example for our children? I know they have plastic trays because my daughter told me the used them for the Thanksgiving meal. Any answers?

KISD doesn't care about the planet or being environmentally friendly. But show them a money making scheme and they will jump on it!
