from cbsnews:

"A man who said he was a first cousin of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan told Fox News that his cousin had been harassed by other military due to his Mideastern background ...

"A man who work (sic) with Hasan at the Fort Hood psychiatric ward said Hasan was angry about the U.S. involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"'He said, first of all, we should not be over there,' said Col Terry Lee to Fox News ...

"'He said precisely that maybe the Muslims should stand up and fight against the aggressors. And at first, you know, we thought he was talking about that Muslims should stand up and help the armed forces in Iraq and Afghanistan ..."

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/11/05/nat...

Federal law enforcement officials said the suspected Fort Hood, Texas, shooter had come to their attention at least six months ago because of Internet postings that discussed suicide bombings and other threats.

The officials said the postings appeared to have been made by Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who was first reported dead, but is now known to be custody following a shooting incident that left least 12 dead and 31 wounded. The officials said they are still trying to confirm that he was the author and an official investigation was not opened.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case.

One of the Web postings that authorities reviewed is a blog that equates suicide bombers with a soldier throwing himself on a grenade to save the lives of his comrades.

My bet is that he wanted to be a martyr for Islam. Maybe he bought the crap about be rewarded with 72 virgins. There is no way I will believe that he simply flipped out because he was about to be deployed to Iraq. People just don't flip out like that because they are going to a place that they would rather not go. The guy was about to be promoted and he was a psychiatrist. He wouldn't have seen any combat, rather, he would have simply counseled soldiers. There had to be some other motivation that caused him to commit a terrorist act. Apparently he read the Quran.

By the way, apparently the shooter lived so maybe the evil bastard will tell us why he freaked out. If he tells the truth I suspect he will mention the Quran, jihad, and 72 virgins.

The shooter was a Psychiatrist, and so it is also probable that he listened to a lot of anger against fellow Muslims from returning soldiers. He most likely heard those horrific stories and just snapped. His people were humiliated and harassed beyond his capacity to bear. Who knows though? We can only make some assumptions.

This guy is a Muslim radical, following the ways of Muhammad and probably yelling Allah Akbar as he murdered these people.

What do you mean by "his people". LOL!

Muslims should be more concerned about Muslims humiliating other Muslims. After all, Muslims kill each other regularly. Only Muslims like to use the "humiliation" excuse for killing innocent people. There is no excuse for what he did--humiliation or no humiliation!

You Muslims just love to make excuses to justify violence by Muslims. I didn't see one sentence from you condemning his terrorist acts. You are a typical terrorist sympathizing, excuse-making Muslim!

Such things do happen in an immoral war.

Our hearts and prayers are with the families of those, who have gone back to reside with their lord Jesus.

The man should be shot by a firing squad.

The man should be shot by a firing squad and the event should be telecast live.

This would act as a warning to other wanna-be shooters.

Funny he did not want to be deployed. Ummmmm.... when someone joins the defence force... especially the army or navy ... they will be DEPLOYED.

From the article I have provided:http://news.ninemsn.c om.au/world/927599/seven-dead- in-texas-military-base-shootin g

**But Nader Hasan denied that his cousin was "afraid of deploying to go to war," and said he had not previously exhibited violent tendencies.

"He wasn't somebody who even enjoyed going to the firing range, you know, this wasn't somebody who had that kind of mindset," Hasan said.**

If he was a psych... and if he was having probs... why didnt he get help himself???

Yeah he was trying to discharge.. but that is not an excuse for what this person has done.

He was not a soldier. I understood he was a doctor. If he did not want to be deployed then why deploy him? This smacks of desperation to me and it is a terrible crime. It reminds me of the kids with guns going into college or high school. Terrible.

You push people too far and they snap.

No excuses. Just sad that lives were lost for something that should have been so straightforward to resolve.

He was in the military. It doesn't matter if he's a doctor or a rifle cleaner; when you're ordered to do something, you do it.

This insane piece of trash was educated by the American military, is a doctor due to the FREE training he had in the military. No student loans for this guy, America picked up the tab.

This was not a case of 'snapped'. This was planned. He turned his back on the country that gave him opportunity. How the hell can any American trust a Muslim after this? Actually, how the hell can anyone trust them. They will smile at you, but don't turn your back on them.

Beg to differ.... from this article: http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/927885/troub...

He served eight years as an enlisted soldier.

So he HAD all the military training prior to going into the profession as a psych.

More and more about his background is starting to emerge... wonder what else we will hear about ...

I pray for the deceased, an injured, the servicemen and women, and their families. May they rest in peace and may God bless the families of the departed.

I also pray for an end to the pointless bloodshed in Afghanistan. Although there is no excuse for this sickening violence. We must cannot ignore that war has consequences. We reap what we sow. We must work together for peace in this world.

As a Muslim, I am also surprised.

The Pentagon and the American commanders and the military are all idiots, who still have no clue.

The fools should know that there is a war of terror going on Islam and the Muslims and I see no reason why should they allow the Muslims in the armed forces, Police, FBI, CIA and other safety agencies.

I hope the idiots have not employed Muslims as fighter and bomber pilots.

Well said, Adam

An immoral war results in such immoral acts of vengeance and madness, which the troops are also doing under an immoral command.

It is time they left.

We have to wait and see. The accused is alive and the facts will be known later.

It is also possible that some pieces of American military trash might have provoked the man. The American military is known for that.

The best is to wait and see official announcements, not the news reported by USMC, the US Media Circus.

Hold your wild horses.

His "people" are SUPPOSED to be his fellow soldiers not muslims. The US military has soldiers from all walks of life and they dont murder scores of their comrades in arms because of their personal background. Only muslims seem to consistently do such things.

Daily Horoscope for December 18

Cancer

You'll be happiest when you're with people who make you feel loved and cherished. You'll bend over backwards to keep them sweet, and will concede arguments and disputes for the sake of peace. Try not to make it peace at any price because that could be setting up problems with people who will then try to take advantage of your good nature. Co-operation is one thing, being a doormat is quite different.
