I was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas in 1967-1968 when the guys from the 198th rioted on base. Would like to chat to anyone who was there to witness the event.

I was there, remember it well. Always amazed how this event seems to have been lost to history. Personally I was tear gassed in the EM club and jumped out a window. Word had it that elements from the 1st Armored area on the west side then went down Battalion ave. smashing cars and windows and that a Lieutenant was killed by a brick or piece of Masonry. We heard that the University of Texas student newspaper reported the incident and that Pravda picked it as "19th Division Mutinies at Fort Hood". The next day they got us sobered up enough to get on planes to Oakland and then an all expense cruise to Nam.

Remember them marching down Battalion Ave after hearing that 1st Cav was wiped out in attack in RVN.
