We just moved to Harker Heights a few days ago an we live about 10 minutes from the east side of Fort Hood... for the past 2 hours we have been hearing what sounds like bombs exploding from a distance, now I don't think it's bombs but I am concerned only because it is shaking the crap outta our house an everything in it an I've never experienced anything like it before... sorry, I don't mean to sound paranoid... my husband says it's probably just thunder... I'm from KY an have never heard thunder like this before if that's what it is lol... can anyone please ease my mind with an answer as to what it could be? Thanks :-)

Not sure if you got this worked out yet, but Ft Hood has bombing ranges and such, so that is probably what you're hearing. I can hear them from my house as well. Sometimes they're a bit more active than others. Nothing to worry about.

Didn't you do any research before you moved near an Army base?

Research? Yes. We researched the best area area for us out of Cove, Killeen, Harker Heights, schools, crime, etc... Did we research if bombs would be heard and shake our house? No. We have lived near other army bases as my husband is in the army. Not like we have much of a choice. The loudness of the bombs and the rattling and shaking of my house is a bit much considering the frequency. Its not just a few times a month...

I'm right off the back side of the Base near WS Young. Been here for 6 yrs and this is the longest and loudest so far. Wondering what they are preparing for. Maybe I'm "special" but the sound is comforting for me. Not my dogs tho. Keep up, keeping us safe.

I live in Temple and it go on all day and night and shakes the house like a small earthquake. I understand the military needs to test but I'm wondering if the homes suffer damages from the constant shaking?

Thanks =) Patriot and for the MANY Others LIKE you ... Men and Women of Honor..
I wonder if those complaining would be so quick if those were not OUR Men testing and disposing of artillery, but an opposing force with actual bombs that near! You keep up the good work! Millions Appreciate and Pray for YOU ! I know I DO!
=)
Dear Concerned .. it freaked me out a little too , but now that I know what it is... Im Comforted!

I just moved to pooler three months ago and the bombs are always going off. They get so loud it shakes the house and they scare my dogs all the time. It should have been mentioned before I bought the house. this goes on until one in the morning. I am very mad I should have been told about this before I bought the house because I would've never bought it

I am not mad at the military. Yes they have to do it to keep us free. I'm mad because it should have been in the disclosure when I bought the house because I wouldn't have bought it. I have animals that freak out over it.
God bless our military. Damn the realtors that don't obey the law

Usually the worst is just cracks inside above each upper corner of the door frames and and window frames. Can't believe somebody moved there and didn't know about the bombing range but I left that area 14 years ago. I guess with people in Austin complaining about bbq smoke bothering them it only figures there would be people around Fort Hood complaining about the sound of ammunitions. Glad I LEFT !!!!!!

I think it's funny how everyone in my house starts tripping over the booming. I've lived here all my life and yes the bombing and booming have increased and became louder. But remember, Fort Hood has grown and expanded immensely.
