What do you think? Will it be "Crash of the Ozarks?" The Discovery Channel will air the TV show about Hardy tonight, Feb. 25th, 9pm. I'm really hoping it's a success buuuut will it show this area in a negative light or will it boost our tourism ? Looking at the trailers , it looks like people in the area are dumb hillbillies living like it was 50 years ago. 75% of the "cast" are convicted felons. We need something good to happen in these parts but I'm not sure this show is the answer. Who would have thought a show about guys making duck calls would be the most popular show on TV. We'll just have to see. It's like one long time movie star said "even bad publicity is publicity". TV is so terrible now, can't find anything descent to watch even with 300 channels, all these "reality shows" are mostly scripted and "set up". I do get some good laughs watching these "ghost hunting" shows and "Finding Bigfoot" because at the end they never find anything but they've spent a ton of money on high tech gadgets trying, they always look stupid and they seem over zealous thinking there was "something". I just hope this show about Hardy doesn't end up embarrassing the good folks in the Ozarks. Gota go now, I'm gonna put my overalls on, get a big ole chew, pop a beer, get in my dirty ole pickup and chase some "poachers".

Well I'm from Hoxie/Walnut Ridge and I thought it was cool to see local footage of the town of Hardy, so I watched the first half hour before I decided to turn it off and go to bed. I had seen enough. Had a few good laughs anyway, 'specially the ole Haney boy down by the river barefoot in his overalls. Wow. Who'da thunk it.

That's one of the things that makes the show somewhat bizarre, they are using their real names but yes it is scripted, very much so, and 95% of the story is not true. It's kinda a hybrid reality show. Beautiful scenery though.
I dont buy it

I believe it's all scripted. A secret meeting with a limo down by the tracks... Really??? Back ally meetings, selling out your friends, moonshine destroyed in a secret building near the road. I wonder who is fool enough to believe this is real. Not to mention the camera happens to be there just at the right times.

The footage of the river and the land was quite beautiful. We drive through there and visit many times throughout the year and that show has really made me question if we need to be in that area. Which is a shame because the land is some of the prettiest anywhere. Not for sure that show is going to promote Hardy in a great light. Time will tell.

Watched it and enjoyed it. I am from around Jonesboro and have been through Hardy many many times on the way to Lake Norfork; also have spent the night there a few times. I am wondering: In relation to the layout of Hardy, just where is the property of the Evans and the Russells? If I am not mistaken it looks like Rainbow Lake is south of Hardy on the map the Discovery team posted with the show, but Google Earth shows it north of town. Any pointers on this. I love geography and have been trying to see just where all this takes place. Although I enjoyed it, it seemed that much of it was made up. I love Hardy and the area, and hope this will help the good people there and not cause any harm or stereotyping by the rest of the nation. Thanks for any tips you can supply.

This Crowbar character in the show has B.S. written all over him. The show makes him out to be a type of person who lives off the land? Lol, anyone in Sharp County who knows this jerk knows that he has spent more time living in houses in Cherokee Village when he was not locked up in prison.

You can find him eating in the local McDonald's and Red Mule. Also he can be found grubbing free meals from the so called "Restaurants" in the area, shopping in Price Chopper and Town and Country. A far cry from living off the land. Living off the Government, most likely.

Lets not forget he wants you to believe he is a born again Christian. Lol, right! the born again Christian that uses the Mother Effer word repeatedly and bootlegs Moonshine.

They make "moon shine" in a 5 gal bucket with a hose stuck to it over a campfire?? Bullshit!! You couldn't find a jar of real moonshine if you offered $500.00 for it.

That barefooted clown down by the river couldn't even walk on the rocks because he was so tender-footed . Looked like Meth is his moonshine.
