If my parents were living today, they too would attest with me that Miss Gertrude was a fine lady. She and my father, Joe Oliver were great friends. Dad often called her about business and could always rely on her for an honest and astute perspective. She was a wonderful friend even to the end as she had her son Leroy Jr. drive her to the funeral and Beaufort Memorial Cemetary for the grave side service.
You see, my father founded the Hardeeville Development Corporation in the 1950s and Miss Gertrude's husband, Leroy Harvey, Sr. was one of the 5 original stockholders. When her husband died, she had to "pick up many pieces" and she met the challenge with style! Her family was most important to her so each of her children and many of the grandchildren took leadership roles in Hargray Communications.
Hats off to Mrs. Gertrude Harvey! She was indeed a unique lady of her time.

I am sorry but this is not right. I am the Great Grand Son of Gertrude. She was buried in Savannah,GA not Beaufort. How could you have so much info to give with such a wrong fact.
