Oh thank God! The town of Hilton Head gave Cracker Barrel the boot so we could bask in the marshy waste of space that HHI was so hell-bent on having, yet we local citizens had no chance to vote on the decision. Most locals would prefer enjoying a meal over staring at dead grass & BROWN water on an empty stomach. Looking forward to having hashbrown casserole back in my life, mmm :)

I'm wondering if the previous comment was from someone whose permanent residence is in Greenville?
I live in Bluffton. I will welcome Cracker Barrel here because they will be in an appropriate area aptly designed for commercial use. I congratulate the Hilton Head town council in their decision to save their beautiful landscape. Marshland gives us shrimp and crabs and the like. I was against the giant shopping center they wanted to put where Cracker Barrel is going. I moved here from the north because I think it is beautiful here. If I wanted big stores, traffic jams, trash and wall to wall shoppers I would have stayed there. I love Bluffton the way it is, I would like to see it stay that way. Just my opinion.

YEY for Judi!! I have spent all of my 45 years here in this area and although progress is good in some respects it saddens me to see what has happened to Bluffton and Hilton Head over the years.. Sun City has lots of small ponds located on their property this is because the whole area used to be known as "Great Swamp" many years ago.. Developers have filled in the swamps and turned it into small ponds to hold the water. Bluffton today is nothing but an out of control mess today. I cringe at the thought of even driving around Bluffton.. Hilton Head is completely ruined, nothing like it once was many years ago. The beauty people came here for has been mostly developed and ruined..I am including a link to a map from 1920 to where exactly "Great Swamp" used to be.. IF you know how to read a map then you will locate the swamp and where Sun City is now located. http://digital.tcl.sc.edu/cdm/singleitem/coll...
