I am trying to put together a history of the drum & bugle corps activity in Iowa. I was born and raised in Ft. Dodge and marched with both the Ft. Dodge Lanciers and the Gowrie Gauchos. Any suggestions for sources aould be appreciated.

Hi Ron: I marched with the Waterloo Chevaliers in the 70s. I have several friends and contacts who are former members of Chevies as well as the Waterloo Royals, Osage Precisionnairs, Dubuque Colts and Cedar Rapids Emerald Knights. Iowa Drum Corps history is quite complex, you have selected a challenging topic. I am interested to know what you have learned. Here is my blog link: http://www.thedrumslingers.blogspot.com/

Dear Ron,
I think I was in school with your brother, and maybe my Dad worked with yours. I twirled a rifle for Ft. Dodge Lanciers and my sister marched with a flag.

I was in the Sioux City Marksmen in the early 60's. Jim Franks was the most active member (drum major). I believe he still resides in Sioux City. You might try contacting him.
In the early 60's, the Cedar Rapids Cadets was the best Iowa corps.

To all who post here. It is a very bad idea to use your real name and the name and locations of friends. America is "UNDER INVASION". Clearly there millions who have "NO CLUE" and continue on with their daily activited, tolaly unaware they are losing their Country and their Constitution.

Of course "BACK WOODS MONEY" is ignorent, allowing America's economic bais to be delivered directly to those who secretly permote invasion tactics.

This very second there is a Officer in China observing this message. Get smart, Keep your "SHIT" to your self.

Ron, my grandfather was with the Ft. Dodge American Legion Core in the 20's and traveled with them to Europe a couple of times. I believe he was with them in Paris in 1928. I have a number of large pictures of the Drum and Bugle Core from that time period. If you are interested, I can get you copies.
