Caustic soda. methanol. Sulferic acids are key ingridients in the process of BioDiesel fuels. The fumes are extrememly dangerous to our health and can cause long term damage to our organs. Methanol fumes can give us blindness. The droplets from sulferic acid also can give blindness and mess with the nervous system. These fumes, on explosion are extremely toxic and can kill us. When a BioDiesel plant explodes, authorities are suppose to evacuate residents within that twelve mile radius. So why did firemen and policemen tell reporters of goerie.com that these fumes from the explosion were HARMLEESS !!! That is simply NOT the case. In order for an explsion to happen at a BioDiesel plant "someone" has to leave a certain sort of furnace on. This furnace is next to a tank. That tank heats up to about 300 degrees Ferenheit & kaboom ! So, it is no question that someone was in fact in that building. The question is, was it on purpose or was it an acicdent ?

All industry pollutes but we need jobs, They must not have fire insurance, but they should have property insurance or some form of insurance to cover some of it.

Was he even operating this planty legally? Probably didn't have insurance because no insurance company would let him operate the plant without a fire sprinkler system. Where was Harborcreek zoning folks on this one? Guess you can operate anything to want in Harborcreek.

Harborcreek supervisors want that area to be the next Millcreek. Forget the country feel, just cram in as many subdivisions as possible, knock out more trees, build, build, build, build any thing and let anything go in the name of the Almighty dollar. Sad.

Why wasnt the FD'S informed of the products in the building? Erie County Hazmat, EMA, LEPC and State DER were there and didnt have the chemical inventory. It looked like there was a lot of materials that should have come under Tier II reporting. The ball was dropped and responders were at risk

No tanks exploded, so no fuel even burned. so now ask yourself, what did they have in that building that was causing explosions? The truth is, the DEP is not doing their job. They just did a plant inspection last week..

According to WJET in the last 24 hours 25 firefighter shave gone to UPMC Hamot and St V's complaining of difficulty breathing and coughing. What was in that plant!? Also, a lot of Firefighting equipment was ruined including SCBA Masks, hose and even a large Fire Pumper. That bastard Marvin Akerly had no insurance so he's gonna get away with not footing any of this bill.

No insurance? Guess who is going to foot the bill on clean-up? This is now a huge toxic waste cleanup sight. Since nobody else in government will tell you, I will. "People stay away if you value your health"!

They should look to see if it wasnt his worthless son Leon Jr. cooking his meth in there. That's what he went to jail for the last time. Was it his meth lab? That would cause an explosion.
