This story is a fraud and Catie Beck & Sandi Cauley are worse than dupes, they are useful idots. This Rodney White is a plant and your viewers will recognize him as so.
I no longer have confidence in your news department of station and expect you to go the way of CBS news. I watch the FOX channel.

I ssw several people proudly displaying the flag,I saw only one person who said he was "offended." To say that "some people left early and some may have stayed away" is to broadcase supposition, not facts. How many people left early? Do you know of any? How many stayed away? Do you know of any? As Sgt. Joe Friday said in the old tv program, "Just the facts, maam, just the facts."

Mr.White needs to understand that the most racist flag is the one flown now. All slaves were brought into this country under it. The early 1800's saw the end of people being brought into the USA for slavery.I state that the US flag is far more important in slavery than any of the Confederate State flags.

I LOVE Hanover and the Tomato Festival is always a hit. Sorry if folks were offended by the flags. I take no offense. I would think those that do, would just ignore them.

I wasn't there at the Tomato Festival, but I am quite certain that none of the SCV members forced anyone to look at or take possession of one of the free flags they were giving away. Ed Cox made a good point about the flag. Not a single slave was brought to these shores under the Confederate flag.

Glad to see that some of you southerners still have life left in you. I was thinking that everyone went to sleep a couple years ago.

Being Southern is a privelege! If you don't like it then 95 runs north!

The US flag has flown over American soil longer than the Confederate flag, and US Constitution, at one time protected slavery.
How many Indians were killed under the US flag with men like Custer leading? So I don't understand why people are so upset.

The only history most folks know is Yankee revisionist history. Gen Patrick Cleburne of which Cleburne Texas is named after warned of this.

History's interpertaton and viewpoint has a lot to do with who had a dog in the fight. I am a proud Southener and a proud American veteran. I fly William Quantrills ,as well as the Headquarters flag of Robert E. Lee. I also fly the American Flag.[Which was by the way the real slave flag]. I am outraged at the 70% failure rate in the black community. Many of these have formed the BBRB , Black Boisterious Racist Bigots. They have become the KKK of the time.
What is done is done, Its time to look to the future. When folks stop talking, thats usually when the fight starts.
Just an observation.

Both the CBS6 video and the written story state that the Confederate Battle Flags "may have sent some festival-goers home early and kept others from attending all together." However, neither the video nor the written story provides any evidence of even one person leaving the festival or not going. The written report refers to the "Sons of Confederate Soldiers," but the proper name of the organization is the "Sons of Confederate Veterans" (SCV). Mr. White received far more airtime than the SCV. Those who accepted a flag received no airtime! All these factors combine to indicate a lack of journalistic professionalism at CBS6.

My sister and I attended the Hanover Tomato Festival. Her first time, but not mine. I have been going for many years with missing very few. The Confederate booths have been there for as long as I can remember. My sister told me about the news report and stated she never saw any Confederate booths. I saw them and did notice the flags being passed out to anyone interested. Yes, lots of people did leave the festival early which we did observe from my car where we were sheltering ourselves from the pouring rain. Funny thing, after the rain stopped, people started coming in again.

it looks like everything white people do affends black people, its time for black people to get over it. I am for confederate history month,if blacks oppose we will change the name to white history month just like their black history month if they still oppose then we do away with all black & white history months..I am a son of conferate veterans and I am very proud of my heritage.this is America and I love my country where I have freedon to think and speake as I please. We the blacks and the white should respect each of our heritages and stop all this b-------.

As I can tell...you are a digusting individual. Listen up...listen up good (well). The day they drove ole Dixie down... this part Southern Heritage became a never ending Historic cause, always remembered and never to be abolished by you, your kids and anyone from your family nor any of your friends. It will always be and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Suck it up...move north with the rest of the scum. BTW GFYourself...cheers

First of all, if people intend on attending to a county event (not of thier own) maybe they should do a little research! I moved to Mechanicsviile in 1994 and went to Lee-Davis High School (HOME OF THE CONFEDERATES!!!) I was transfer from Highland Springs High School,(but my granmother was born and raised in Hanover County and my mother and aun't and uncles lived there too).

Anyway, to the offended whites and the ofended "African American's" first of all YOU ARE IN THE SOUTH!!! I personally DO NOT KNOW 1 REAL AFRICAN AMERICAN! True AFRICAN'S DO NOT CLAIM BLACK AMERICANS,( what they truly are) your "ancestors" were sold by their OWN tribesmen as castaways, degenerates...and would have been killed or starved to death as a result of "being "kicked out" of the tribe..... You are PROUD to say you are African American's but want to cause "Southern American's'(which we ARE), problems for celebrating bravery and and standing up for what they and (we believe in) and want to share that? WHY
To the "offended" WHITES, I wouldn't be surprised if some of your "ancestors " NORTH OR SOUTH had slaves themselves NEWS FLASH.... ONLY THE WEALTHY HAD SLAVES !!!!!! Northerner's decided not to have slaves probably because they were tired of ther husbands sneaking out of the house and "mixin the blood", and in turn wouldn't hire them either. Oh and another Newsflash NOT all Blackmen that enlisted did so just to earn their freedom there were many that were free.!
