Working Americans are doing worse and feeling less optimistic as the income gap between the rich and poor gets wider and wider. Four out of five adults are now struggling with unemployment, near-poverty or reliance on government funding. The vanishing of the livable wage manufacturing jobs is a contributing factor to the stats. It seems as if the American dream is disappearing before our eyes.

The study findings come just days after President Obama made new calls for Congress to focus on the economy and to help “rebuild ladders of opportunity” for Americans. The problem is, Republicans in Congress are looking to increase the income gap, not close it.

On June 20, 2013, the Farm Bill failed to pass, when Republicans kept subsidies that supported farms but cut out over $20.5 billion from SNAP. Many congressmen and women are supported by the farm subsidies. Fourteen GOP lawmakers have received a total of $7.2 million in farm subsidies since 2004.

Until 2014, the Americans are pawns. Republicans want to use us to further their message, but refuse to work with Democrats or President Obama to take action. So, until the midterms, we wait. And we just thank, whoever it is we thank, that we hold the Senate and Presidency. And when 2014 comes around, we have to vote. We cannot afford a repeat of 2010, where we stay home because of apathy. We must unify because not to do us is to lose what fundamentally makes us America. The notion that we take care of our neighbor. The idea that if we work hard, we can support our family and give a better life to our kids. Republicans present themselves as for the working man, but their actions prove just the opposite. They are counting on us to not pay attention after election day. We will prove them wrong.

Gop doesnt want to raise the minimum wage....lets keep then at the 47% of deadbaets wanting hand outs...

From care2.com , here are 5 reasons to raise the minimum wage now:

1. It would boost the economy: A recent study by the Chicago Federal Reserve found that raising the minimum wage to $9 an hour would increase household spending by about $48 billion the following year, amounting to a .3 percent boost to GDP. And while opponents warn that a raise would hurt jobs, several studies have shown that it doesn’t have a negative effect on employment and may even help boost job growth.

2. It would lift millions out of poverty: A full-time minimum wage worker earns just $14,500 a year, meaning that if she has two kids she lives at $3,000 below the poverty line. The wage isn’t enough to make rent in any state in the country. But raising it to $10.10 an hour would lift nearly 6 million workers out of poverty.

3. It would help close the gender wage gap: Women make up two-thirds of the minimum wage earners in the country, which is why 13.1 million would be impacted by a raise. Evidence already suggests that a higher minimum wage is related to a smaller gender wage gap at the state level, pointing to a raise as a good way to help change the fact that women make 77 cents for every dollar a man earns.

4. It’s an important racial justice issue: Three and a half million people of color would be lifted out of poverty with a minimum wage raise to $10.10, representing the majority of those lifted out of poverty. People of color are much more likely to work minimum wage jobs, making up 42 percent of those workers even though they make up 32 percent of the overall workforce.

5. Americans support a raise: A poll released on Wednesday shows that 80 percent of Americans support a raise to $10.10 an hour, including more than 90 percent of Democrats and even two-thirds of Republicans, as well as 83 percent of low-income adults and nearly 80 percent of those who make more than $100,000. Voters also decided to raise the wage in three cities in November, and in fact when ballot initiatives include a raise, voters nearly always approve it by substantial majorities.

Why does the GOP hate Americans so much?

The unwarranted and insupportable (with facts) disrespect for our popularly- and decisively re-elected President is particularly egregious because of the underlying racism reflected in it. However, it is just another iteration of the hate-your-government rhetoric being sold to naive people by right-wingers, starting with Reagan and continuing to today. Think, people -- how well do you believe our lives would be without the unifying, protective and self-policing ability we exert through our government? If apocalyptic rule by mob really appeals to you, then try moving to a country where these conditions prevail and see how you like it in real life.

20 Forgotten Bush Scandals

How easily we forget !!!!!!!!!

In an interview with Fox News on Sunday, George H.W. Bush congratulated his son on running a “clean operation." Bush apparently wasn’t paying very close attention. Everyone remembers weapons of mass destruction, the US attorney firings. But historians will note that those are only the beginning of the Bush administration scandals…
The Bush administration will leave the annals of presidential disrepute several times thicker than it found them. There’s Iraq, the hospital visit to John Ashcroft, the US attorney firings. But historians will note that those are only the beginning of the Bush administration scandals. Does the name Jeff Gannon ring a bell? Boxgate? What about the anti-prostitution AIDS tsar who purchased the services of—wait for it—the D.C. Madam? The Daily Beast has put together 20 of Bush’s greatest forgotten scandals.
Interior Department officials "frequently consumed alcohol at industry functions, had used cocaine and marijuana, and had sexual relationships with oil and gas company representatives."

Wages Fell in July as Hiring Slowed in Uneven U.S. Job Market

Employees took home less pay and worked fewer hours in July and job growth was the weakest in four months even as the U.S. jobless rate fell, underscoring uneven progress in the labor market.
Payrolls rose by 162,000 last month, while unemployment dropped to 7.4 percent from 7.6 percent, the Labor Department reported yesterday in Washington. The workweek on average was the shortest in six months and hourly earnings fell for the first time since October.
The rich keep getting richer and everybody else falls behind. Yes, it’s been going on since Reagan. Doesn’t matter if a D or R sits in office. The rules are rigged in favor of the rich and Obama has done nothing to stop that. Same ol’ same ol’. Just a different year.

For quite a while, I've believed the GOP and the tea party want to destroy the fabric of the United States of America. They hate their government with every fiber of their beings and abhor our president. They want to destroy the government, so they can take it over and reign in perpetuity. I've lived 5 decades and never been so frightened for my country as it is being overtaken by people without souls and lacking compassion, whose god is money and the 99%.
