That's where you and I differ. I know CFL's save money and energy. I know to use less water. The fact that it saves me money is all I need to choose....remember choice? I don't need someone to mandate my choices with toilets the size of thimbles. What about my right to take a massive crap and not have it clog the toilet? If you were to peel away the veneer you would probably find that democrats are in cahoots with the plunger industry.
You see...I can be as absurd as you...!!!
The state has a legitimate interest in conserving energy and reducing pollution. When individuals prioritize their personal selfish desires over the common good, the state has valid cause to intervene.

It's called "the public good" friend. Get used to it.

Think it's a joke, see what the mooslem brotherhood president in Egypt is trying to pull off. Take a minute to learn something & research what barry obama's cousin O'dingo or O'bongo (whatever) tried to do in his home country , install sharia barbaric Law. You think BO is different - then I got a bridge I can sell you at a cheap price.
Many people have tried to decry Obama as being a Muslim, mostly because of his family ties and traditions. It hasn't even been discussed that his father practiced Islam for most of his life but later shunned the faith and actually became an atheist.

What actually leads everyone into believing the president is a closet Muslim? There's a large contingent that harps on his faith being rooted in his father's beliefs, but they conveniently attack his Islamic base while ignoring his non-theistic later years. Is it just because Islam is so easy a target in our current social climate? Or does there happen to be a legitimate basis to it outside of those many myths (ala the ring he was said to wear with a Quranic verse) debunked so many times?

This isn't solely intended to be a defense of Barack Obama. But if you want to be taken seriously, use something with more footing than hypothetical ideals (Islam, socialism) founded on past links in a person's history. Much of my family could be called both hardline Republican and fundamentalist Christian whereas I'm everything but; I know many similar in regards to their religion, creed, political affiliations. Even immediate family members in the real world have drastically different views of the world. Saying "Well so-and-so's brother wants to do this and therefore so-and-so obviously must agree!" is a shoddy fallacy at...well, it's most shoddy. The quoted poster engaged in it, TaxNoMore does it dozens of times per day, and multiple posters on all sides here routinely use the same tactic.

This nation is secular and was founded as such. There's no Judeo-Christian framework and nor will it ever incorporate Sharia law. Nobody but the most fringe of conspiracy theorists and paranoid, new age witch-hunters actually give that idea a moment of actual credence.

Obamas taking $4 million Hawaiian vacation as America plunges over fiscal cliff

President Obama can’t be troubled to meet with Congressional leaders.

Well, it looks like the country will have to wait a little longer for even a halfhearted show of leadership.

While the president is threatening Americans that Republicans will steal their $2000, he’s preparing to embark on a three-week,$4 million Hawaiian vacation.

Funded by taxpayers, of course.

So I guess if I were trying to get a break from all the hard work of running a country, I would pick a vacation to Hawaii.

And it would make it all that much sweeter if that vacation was all-expenses paid.

And right around the time Congress is making the tough decisions, choosing between raising taxes on the upper middle class, small businesses, and the wealthy, risking the future of the American economy, or cutting government spending and risking the future of their own employment.

So I’m sure America will understand when Barack Obama spends $4 million of their hard earned dollars to relax for a couple of weeks on the sandy shores of Oahu.

I should point out, when you talk about the SNAP program or the food stamp program, you have to recognize that it's also an economic stimulus.

Every dollar of SNAP benefits generates $1.84 in the economy in terms of economic activity.

If people are able to buy a little more in the grocery store, someone has to stock it, package it, shelve it, process it, ship it.

All of those are jobs.

It's the most direct stimulus you can get in the economy during these tough times."

..........

So it's a perpetual robust economy just from food stamps!!!

Where does "dollar number 1" come from?

According to obummer's man the first dollar is replaced and there

is a $.84 profit.(a profit to die for)

Imagine if every company in the USA could show a profit like that!!!

It is no wonder obummer is called "the messiah", why it's like

turning water into wine.

Newt Gingrich has it right, the Fisical cliff is a fantasy made up thing. If Romney would have picked him for VP instead of Ryan, He would have been our next president.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Of course, Gingrich is right less often than a broken clock, but he is right that this "fiscal cliff" language is nonsense. There is no drop-dead deadline like there was with the debt default. The sense of urgency here is entirely manufactured.

But if Romney had chosen Gingrich as his VP, he would have lost by an even bigger margin. The US soundly rejected the rightwing extremism of Gingrich and the tea party this month.

‘Simply walk away’

Barack Obama’s latest proposal to avert the fiscal cliff, which calls for $1.6 trillion in tax increases and $50 billion in additional stimulus spending, is an insult to Republicans.

Many analysts say that would likely send the still-struggling U.S. economy into a recession, if not a depression, as the financial markets would likely go into a tailspin while businesses and consumers both cut back on spending.

As a result of the economic slowdown from the stilted GDP growth, the CBO also predicts unemployment would rise by almost a full percentage point, with a loss of about two million jobs.
