Mitt vs Mutt wrote: Whither the Republican Party? Whenever a party loses an election big time, there is a lot of wailing and the pulling of hair. Although the popular vote was close, the Republicans lost nearly all the swing states, including New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Wisconsin, Ohio, Iowa, Colorado, Nevada, and New Mexico. They probably lost Florida, and almost lost North Carolina. It is true that some of the races were close, but in politics a win is a win and a loss is a loss. With the loss of Virginia and close call in North Carolina, the party's base has shrunk to the Deep South (except for Florida), and big, empty states in the Great Plains and Mountain West where the buffalo once roamed but the electoral votes never did and still don't.
As we mentioned many times this year, the traditionally blue states--the ones Democrats have won five times in a row--are worth 242 EVs. Obama won every one of them. None were even close. Not even Wisconsin, where Obama had a 7-point margin even with a Wisconsite on the opposing ticket. Romney made a last-ditch effort to win Pennsylvania, but came up short. The blue team won by 5 points. So next time around, we can talk about the 242 EVs that the Democrats have won six times in a row. Rick Santorum or Marco Rubio aren't going to make a dent here, probably not Paul Ryan, either. Chris Christie might. ////////// “Our economy is recovering. A decade of war is ending. Our long campaign is now over. And whether I earned your vote or not, I have listened to you, and I have learned from you and you have made me a better president… Tonight, you voted for action, not politics as usual. You elected us to focus on your jobs, not ours.”

So the MSM reported yesterday the John Boehner set "a conciliatory tone." This is how the NYTimes reported what he said: ---------- The House speaker, John A. Boehner of Ohio, striking a conciliatory tone a day after the Republican Party’s electoral drubbing, said on Wednesday that he was ready to accept a budget deal that raises federal revenue as long as it is linked to an overhaul of entitlements and a reform of the tax code that closes loopholes, curtails or eliminates deductions and lowers income tax rates. ... Mr. Boehner made it clear that his vision for additional revenue includes a tax code that lowers even the top income tax rate from where it is now, 35 percent, not where it would be in January when the Bush-era tax cuts are set to expire — 39.6 percent. At least some of that additional revenue would come from economic growth that he said would be fueled by a simpler tax code. ---------- Boehner just laid out Romney's economic plan. You know - the plan that calls for across the board tax cuts, limiting deductions, gutting entitlements, and ignoring the impact on deficits. You know - the economic plan that America REJECTED on Tuesday. This is a "conciliatory tone?" Please.

"Mitt Romney's fantasy that Senate Democrats will work with him to pass his 'severely conservative' agenda is laughable," Mr. Reid said in a statement on Friday, trying to puncture Mr. Romney's closing election argument that he'll be able to deliver on the bipartisanship President Obama promised in 2008 but has struggled to live up to. Read more: Reid says he can't work with Romney - Washington Times http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/inside-po... Follow us:@washtimes on Twitter .......... This is a "conciliatory tone?" Please. . . It would be funny if it weren’t so pathetic. No - check that - it IS funny, mostly BECAUSE it's so pathetic. ROFLMAO!

They started the dance while they were chained together. . . Your choice of the conga as a celebratory VICTORY dance was most appropriate. obummer, a four year failure
