Some ideas:

1. Gather together leading Republicans and publicly support disaster relief and government response.
2. Give up all advertising by his campaign in the affected states and turn that money over to the Red Cross or other charities.(In the meantime all the Super-Pacs supporting him could continue the barrage of advertising.)

That he staged a phony food drive in Ohio shows he has no vision

I havenít heard this much bullshit from Obama since he ran in 2008. Lie after lie, half-truths, still playing the blame game. The man has to be mentally ill. Obama has lied and used people all his life to the point he doesnít know the truth from his lies. Ever wonder why he stutters when he has no teleprompter? If youíve ever talked to a known liar then you know the signs. When you live a lie you have trouble remembering which lie you said.

Obama....Hope and Change...LMAO. Yep lets give the idiot 4 more years to finish off America. Really, itís hard to believe there are so many morons who still support this traitor.

Obama revives his 2008 "change" slogan in final campaign pitch

In what his advisers billed as his closing argument, President Barack Obama returned to the campaign trail for the first time in four days on Thursday, declaring "our work is not yet done" and reviving his successful 2008 campaign slogan: change.

Obama resumed re-election rallies after overseeing the response to the devastating storm that hit the eastern seaboard. The president, who won the White House four years ago thanks in part to his themes of "hope" and "change," had largely avoided them until now.

But as Republican rival Mitt Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, sought to portray himself as the new candidate of change, Obama aimed to reclaim that mantle in a neck-and-neck race with just five days to go before Election Day.

"I know what change looks like because I've fought for it," Obama told a crowd of some 2,600 on an airport tarmac in Wisconsin, one of a handful of battleground states that will determine the winner of the November 6 election.

Obama said Romney's proposals to reduce regulations for banks and cut taxes for the wealthiest Americans were examples of policies that had led to the economic problems that he inherited when he became president in 2009.

"Governor Romney has been using all his talents as a salesman to dress up these very same policies that failed our country so badly - the very same policies we've been cleaning up after for the past four years - and he is offering them up as change," Obama said.

"Well, let me tell you Wisconsin, we know what change looks like. And what the governor is offering sure ain't change."

The Romney campaign, boosted by their candidate's surge in the polls over the past month, dismissed Obama's arguments.

"We've said all along this election is a choice between the status quo and real change - change that offers promise that the future will be better than the past," said Romney spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg. "President Obama's misguided policies and broken promises have let down millions of Americans, and we can't afford four more years like the last four."

Obama conceded that he had not been able to make progress on all the changes he promised in 2008, but he noted as he repeatedly does that he ended the war in Iraq, repealed a policy that prevented gays and lesbians from serving openly in the military, and ordered the U.S. mission that killed Osama bin Laden.

Keeping a slightly more positive tone, Obama drew distinctions with Romney without being as aggressive as he has been in recent weeks. He did not mention the word "Romnesia" - the term he has used to delight crowds when describing what he says are Romney's tendencies to shift positions.

But he kept up strong criticism of his opponent. Obama portrayed the Republican challenger as someone who would not bring bipartisanship to Washington - a promise Obama also made four years ago and has had trouble keeping.

Obama, who has focused his campaign primarily on appealing to middle class Americans, also used a section of his speech to praise the record of former President Bill Clinton, a Democrat, who has become the top surrogate for Obama in the final days of the campaign.

The remarks were Obama's first at a political event......

If your home has been swept away by floods, you probably don't have clean water, pots and pans, or a stove. I guess the 47% are just supposed to suck on the dried pasta, and maybe take a shot or two of the cheese flavor powder to wash it down?

This is the most idiotic thing I have ever seen.

As one Romney campaign advisor said,,,,"Just gather up some stuff and throw it in a bag, make it look good, then we're outta here".

First off you don't own shit. You don't need to guess what to do idiot. You get a job and pay for your own pots and pans and then you won't need to suck on the dried pasta. You can also take that skank girlfriend out for a nice dinner instead of sponging off her.

smile broadly while hoisting a large pack of water bottles.

But then, "normal" and "Romney" are not often words that work together.

And while we're at it, does anyone else notice that every single time he's done one of these fake man-of-the-people schticks he's worn the exact same blue-checked shirt?

I think that's a great idea sonny. Where did you still it? Since Obama has raised more money than Romney he can donate his money to the Red Cross. Oh wait. Obama only gives pennies to charity unlike Romney who gives millions. Obama is not spreading his wealth around like he wants. Obama is a tight wad....he doesn't give he only takes.

What everyone seems to be missing is the point about where Mitt's campaign picked up that $5000 of relief supplies...Walmart.

Instead of doing what he claims is a main focus of his campaign and economic plan, supporting small businesses, his staff runs off to one of the greatest destroyers of small businesses our country has ever known to get what they want. Couldn't they find a family owned grocery store or at least a local grocery chain to spend that $5000 at? Plenty of small businesses would have killed to have someone like these guys roll in and drop $5000 in their store all at once, as it might make the difference between making a profit that month rather than having to draw on their line of credit (if they're lucky enough to still have one.) But no such "putting your money where your mouth is" from Team Romney.

He's spent the campaign talking about the importance of small businesses, but when he actually has a chance to do something that might support one, he throws the cash instead to some of his fellow 1%ers.

The plan was for supporters to bring hurricane relief supplies to the event, and then deliver the bags of canned goods, packages of diapers, and cases of water bottles to the candidate, who would be perched behind a table along with a slew of volunteers and his Ohio right-hand man, Senator Rob Portman. To complete the project and photo-op, Romney would lead his crew in carrying the goods out of the gymnasium and into the Penske rental truck parked outside.
But the last-minute nature of the call for donations left some in the campaign concerned that they would end up with an empty truck. So the night before the event, campaign aides went to a local Wal Mart and spent $5,000 on granola bars, canned food, and diapers to put on display while they waited for donations to come in, according to one staffer.(The campaign confirmed that it "did donate supplies to the relief effort," but would not specify how much it spent.)
(...)
As supporters lined up to greet the candidate, a young volunteer in a Romney/Ryan t-shirt stood near the tables, his hands cupped around his mouth, shouting, "You need a donation to get in line!"
Empty-handed supporters pled for entrance, with one woman asking, "What if we dropped off our donations up front?"
The volunteer gestured toward a pile of groceries conveniently stacked near the candidate. "Just grab something they are taking pictures," he said.
I don't see any mention of Obama donating anything. Oh, that's right he donated he time by making a speech. Speeches don't put food on the table for those in need. Yes, a speech was more important to Obama, he needs to look good after lying about our Libyan Ambassador and 3 others were murdered. I wonder how any human could watch their deaths live while denying any help.

Yeah, Wal-Mart is evil because they are one of the largest employers in the world. You condemn Romney for directly doing something for those in need while ignoring the fact Obama done nothing. Speeches are dime a dozen and with Obama there cheaper by the day.

Why isn't Romney's food drive photo op helping him in Ohio?

President Obama's numbers just keep on going up there in Ohio over his.

Additional Details
Did you see how he was dealing with the people there in Ohio? Many of them he totally ignored. They'd hand him the bags of food, and try to say hello to him, and he'd snatch the bags from their hands and sling it into the truck, as if to say, look I ain't got time for you, just give me the darn bag and move on. He never seems sincere/genuine. You can see right through his facade. And as someone said, the Red Cross is not asking for food because they need money more to buy cots, place people in hotels/shelters, buy them toiletries etc. So why put on such a show?
