Romney compares Sandy relief to cleaning up after high-school football game :

President Obama visited the Jersey shore Wednesday with Governor Chris Christie to get an up-close look at storm-damaged coastline. But a day earlier, Mitt Romney was already doing his part in Kettering, Ohio, at a campaign rally-turned fake disaster-relief event.

And to buff his own image as a disaster-relief specialist, Romney compared the Sandy relief effort to … his experience cleaning up the field after a high-school football game. Seriously.

I remember once we had a football field at my high school. The field was covered with rubbish and paper goods from people who’d had a big celebration there at the game. And there was a group of us there assigned to clean it up. And I thought,‘how are we going to clean up all the mess on this football field?’ There were just a few of us. And the person responsible for organizing the effort said,‘Just line up along the yard lines. You go between the goal line and the 10-yard line, and the next person between the 10 and 20, and just walk down and do your lane. And if everybody cleans their lanes, we’ll get it done.’ And so today, we’re cleaning one lane if you will.

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell wasn’t buying it. In his Rewrite segment on Wednesday’s edition of The Last Word, he did a play-by-play on what he called the Romney campaign’s “fake” storm relief event.

“Because the desperate and shameless Romney campaign believes it cannot win the election without winning Ohio, Team Romney pushed their candidate out on a stage in Ohio yesterday,” O’Donnell explained.“Because the storm was still in progress in some states and the death count was climbing in New York and elsewhere, traditional political decency dictated that Mitt Romney be not caught campaigning yesterday.”

Buzzfeed also reported Romney campaign staffers stocked up beforehand on $5,000-worth of canned foods and other essentials at a Wal-Mart the night before —“to put on display while they waited for donations to come in.”

O’Donnell suggested these measures are the result of an extreme situation less than one week before the election:“It’s hard out there for a presidential candidate who is utterly irrelevant to the massive relief effort President Obama is running in the aftermath of this week’s historic storm.”

Chrysler CEO Rebuts Romney on Jeeps

Funny how Republicans never care about debt or spending when Republicans are in office! Funny how Republicans never care that it was the Democrat Clinton who actually balanced the budget and got us a surplus and Bush and the Republicans who blew it! Funny how Republicans never care that Obama wants to institute the same policies as Clinton but the Republicans in Congress have refused to let him and Mittens wants to, along with his fellow Republicans, institute the same failed economic policies as Bush that blew our balanced budget plus 20% additional tax cuts.

Republicans are fools or dishonest. In my opinion it's both.

Mitt comes from a world of full-time housekeepers, butlers, chauffeurs, grounds-keepers and gardeners.

If one of his mansions were to be severely damaged in a storm, he would simply shift to one of his other homes or stay in a 5-star hotel while the repairs and clean up was carried out.

He really cannot relate to the overwhelming catastrophic impact this storm has had on families, communities, towns, and major metropolitan areas, nor does he appear to have a grasp on the limited resources available to local and state agencies to deal with devastation of this magnitude.

Click....click.....Brrrring! Brinnnnnggggg!

'This is Barack Obama.'

'Good evening, Mr. President, Mitt Romney here. Obviously we have our differences and we're competing hard for the same job, but in this time of crisis I understand that we are all Americans first, and I want to assure you that you have my full support as you lead our country.'

'I appreciate that, Governor Romney.'

And I also want to let you know that since you won't be able to campaign as you manage this crisis, I will also refrain from campaigning as long as you do, even if that extends to election day.'

'That is a magnificent gesture, Governor.'

'Thank you. Furthermore, if you need Joe and he can't campaign, I'll pull Paul off the trail, and the same goes for your wonderful wife Michelle and Ann. I'd offer for Jill and Paul Ryan's wife, but she won't leave his side, so forget it.'

'That's more than I would ever ask for, Governor. I would offer to pull Bill off the trail in exchange for W, but......'

'Don't remind me about that, please.'

'Sorry.'

'I've also pulled all campaign donation solicitation off my campaign website and replaced it with a link for people to donate to the Red Cross.'

'That's a wonderful idea and I will immediately do the same.'

'I've also signed up 9 of my biggest campaign donors who, along with me, are each going to match every dollar contributed up to $20 million each. All of us know how fortunate we've been, and this is a way for us to give back.'

'I don't know what to say, other than I wish I had donors like yours.'

'Yeah, I bet you wish you knew people who own NASCAR and NFL teams, but that isn't important right now. Oh, and one more thing.... I'm not sure how to ask this.....'

'Please proceed, Governor.'

'Ouch. I deserved that, didn't I? Please, call me Mitt.'

'Sorry, couldn't resist. And even if you won't use your first name, please use mine, for the obvious reasons.'

'That's good, Barack.'

'I thought so, Mitt. So what did you want to ask me?'

.
'How can I HELP?'

How ironic that bipartisanship prevailed in a time of crisis, and the guy on the other side happens to be Gov. Christie who puts politics aside for the good of the American people...

...While at the same time, Willard and his pet rats have been terrified of the reality that, except for his phony and desperate flurry of hail-Marys in this final week, he is almost less than an afterthought. Whatever we may think of Christie, I give him major props for basically telling Mitt to eat shit!

Instead of loading up the campaign bus with bogus canned goods that nobody wants, he just could have given a donation of blood. It would have made a great photo op and shown that he has a heart, AND it would have been something that the Red Cross actually needs.

But no. He's too much of a dick to even think of those things.

Romney compares Sandy relief to cleaning up after high-school football game

Lawrence O'Donnell took this clip from Romney's fake Disaster Relief event and showed us again why Romney is about as useful as a steak knife at a Peta Rally.

And if everybody cleans their lanes, we’ll get it done.’ And so today, we’re cleaning one lane if you will.
Is this a man running to be President of the United States or Prom King? Does he even understand the scale of what has happened, has he no grasp of the real world?
It's obvious he doesn't because he refuses to adhere to the requests of the Red Cross, as so many have pointed out and insists they take donated items rather than cash donations.

I'm just sitting here aching all over and home sick and thinking, how can this man be serious? It's like a comedy of errors.

The plan was for supporters to bring hurricane relief supplies to the event, and then deliver the bags of canned goods, packages of diapers, and cases of water bottles to the candidate, who would be perched behind a table along with a slew of volunteers and his Ohio right-hand man, Senator Rob Portman. To complete the project and photo-op, Romney would lead his crew in carrying the goods out of the gymnasium and into the Penske rental truck parked outside.
But the last-minute nature of the call for donations left some in the campaign concerned that they would end up with an empty truck. So the night before the event, campaign aides went to a local Wal Mart and spent $5,000 on granola bars, canned food, and diapers to put on display while they waited for donations to come in, according to one staffer.(The campaign confirmed that it "did donate supplies to the relief effort," but would not specify how much it spent.)

(...)

As supporters lined up to greet the candidate, a young volunteer in a Romney/Ryan t-shirt stood near the tables, his hands cupped around his mouth, shouting, "You need a donation to get in line!"

Empty-handed supporters pled for entrance, with one woman asking, "What if we dropped off our donations up front?"

The volunteer gestured toward a pile of groceries conveniently stacked near the candidate. "Just grab something they are taking pictures," he said.

Some ideas:

1. Gather together leading Republicans and publicly support disaster relief and government response.
2. Give up all advertising by his campaign in the affected states and turn that money over to the Red Cross or other charities.(In the meantime all the Super-Pacs supporting him could continue the barrage of advertising.)

That he staged a phony food drive in Ohio shows he has no vision

I haven’t heard this much bullshit from Obama since he ran in 2008. Lie after lie, half-truths, still playing the blame game. The man has to be mentally ill. Obama has lied and used people all his life to the point he doesn’t know the truth from his lies. Ever wonder why he stutters when he has no teleprompter? If you’ve ever talked to a known liar then you know the signs. When you live a lie you have trouble remembering which lie you said.

Obama....Hope and Change...LMAO. Yep lets give the idiot 4 more years to finish off America. Really, it’s hard to believe there are so many morons who still support this traitor.

Obama revives his 2008 "change" slogan in final campaign pitch

In what his advisers billed as his closing argument, President Barack Obama returned to the campaign trail for the first time in four days on Thursday, declaring "our work is not yet done" and reviving his successful 2008 campaign slogan: change.

Obama resumed re-election rallies after overseeing the response to the devastating storm that hit the eastern seaboard. The president, who won the White House four years ago thanks in part to his themes of "hope" and "change," had largely avoided them until now.

But as Republican rival Mitt Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, sought to portray himself as the new candidate of change, Obama aimed to reclaim that mantle in a neck-and-neck race with just five days to go before Election Day.

"I know what change looks like because I've fought for it," Obama told a crowd of some 2,600 on an airport tarmac in Wisconsin, one of a handful of battleground states that will determine the winner of the November 6 election.

Obama said Romney's proposals to reduce regulations for banks and cut taxes for the wealthiest Americans were examples of policies that had led to the economic problems that he inherited when he became president in 2009.

"Governor Romney has been using all his talents as a salesman to dress up these very same policies that failed our country so badly - the very same policies we've been cleaning up after for the past four years - and he is offering them up as change," Obama said.

"Well, let me tell you Wisconsin, we know what change looks like. And what the governor is offering sure ain't change."

The Romney campaign, boosted by their candidate's surge in the polls over the past month, dismissed Obama's arguments.

"We've said all along this election is a choice between the status quo and real change - change that offers promise that the future will be better than the past," said Romney spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg. "President Obama's misguided policies and broken promises have let down millions of Americans, and we can't afford four more years like the last four."

Obama conceded that he had not been able to make progress on all the changes he promised in 2008, but he noted as he repeatedly does that he ended the war in Iraq, repealed a policy that prevented gays and lesbians from serving openly in the military, and ordered the U.S. mission that killed Osama bin Laden.

Keeping a slightly more positive tone, Obama drew distinctions with Romney without being as aggressive as he has been in recent weeks. He did not mention the word "Romnesia" - the term he has used to delight crowds when describing what he says are Romney's tendencies to shift positions.

But he kept up strong criticism of his opponent. Obama portrayed the Republican challenger as someone who would not bring bipartisanship to Washington - a promise Obama also made four years ago and has had trouble keeping.

Obama, who has focused his campaign primarily on appealing to middle class Americans, also used a section of his speech to praise the record of former President Bill Clinton, a Democrat, who has become the top surrogate for Obama in the final days of the campaign.

The remarks were Obama's first at a political event......

If your home has been swept away by floods, you probably don't have clean water, pots and pans, or a stove. I guess the 47% are just supposed to suck on the dried pasta, and maybe take a shot or two of the cheese flavor powder to wash it down?

This is the most idiotic thing I have ever seen.

As one Romney campaign advisor said,,,,"Just gather up some stuff and throw it in a bag, make it look good, then we're outta here".
