The only this article is missing is the fact that this person is the superintendent's son-in-law. Sould we suspect nepotism?

Welcome to the district! As long as he is qualified, I'm not concerned who his relatives are!

That answers my question as to how a 23 year old trombonist would be hired to fill an athletic director's position over 53 other candidates.
Interesting scenario

The school district states that they wanted someone with 3-5 years experience?? How do u get that web you are only 23?? Coaching 7/8 th grade football isn't exactly experience to run a school's athletic and activities program is it?? The other 54 applicants must have been awful it this is the new hire! Then they pay him in the middle of their pay scale? How do you get paid at the bottom, just graduate from high school??makes sense now that we know it is Dr. Moyer's son in law, I guess he was bringing his daughter back home!! I imagine their wil be a Phys Ed job opening in the district soon!!
Amazing

9 athletic directors in 11 years?? Staring to make sense now. Good luck Hanover! Ashamed to be a tax payer in the district. This type of activities make you wonder about who is in charge! But now we know. Mr. Smooth talker and no substance.

As an individual who interviewed for this position--I accepted the fact that they didn't 'agree' with what I had to say, and was not invited to the second round....but, after reading this, I have a feeling they weren't even paying attention. HPSD should be ashamed of not giving more qualified individuals a shot at this job. I know of at least two people that had 3-5 (or more) years experience, made the first rounds, and then they hire an out-of-state 'rookie'. Nepotism at it's finest!
All I can say is shame on you Hanover, but good luck to the young lad.

Sounds like someone is a little jealous and knows WAYYYY to much about Dr. Moyer's family--stalker much?
Lets hope

A masters degree at 23....I say good for him. Sounds like a very well rounded, motivated individual. So what who his relatives are. He could be related to the POPE and some would find fault with that. Lets wish him well and hope that his "family ties" to the area keep him and his wife here. Seems that they are moving in the right direction at HPSD. Lets hope this is another step forward for the students and Nighthawk athletics.

Once again, I am sad and disappointed to see that some residents are fulfilling the small town = small minds stereotype. If you haters were interested in knowing all of the facts, you would have discovered that Dr. Moyer was not part of the interview process and had no part in hiring Mr. Flores other than approving the hire by the people who were. Like Dr. Moyer, Mr. Flores is clearly smart, motivated, and hard working-- and let's face it, Hanover School District needs these people more than almost any other school district in the area. The only reason this hire is being questioned is because of his relation to Dr. Moyer; if he were just a good friend, this would not be an issue. The fact is Mr. Flores was prepared for the interview, suited for the job, and liked by everyone interviewing him. How about the haters start directing some of their obviously wasted energy on a hobby instead of expressing their ignorant opinions to informed residents on a public forum?

It wouldn't matter his age, if he had MORE EXPERIENCE. Don't post a job, asking for 3-5 years related experience, and then hire a kid with 2, or less, years experience. Looks like to me, another example of WHO you know, more than WHAT you know.....I happen to know two individuals that applied and received interviews for this job. Both outstanding young men w/ more than 3-5 years (athletic and activities experience)in their current career fields. I don't think people are necessarily bashing the person, but we are bashing the decision. All in all, the decision was made (right or wrong) and best of luck to HPSD in attempting to turn things around.

Hopefully his ties to the area will keep him around for longer than the long list of former AD's. I say, good luck to you Mr. Flores...you're young, enthusiastic and now have a chance to really make a difference in the lives of young people!

I know Mr. Flores, and Hanover is lucky to have such an active person coming to their community. He is a kind and welcoming man with a passion and talent for empowering youth. I can only hope that Hanover treats him with the same integrity and respect he shows everyone he meets. Congrats to Mr. Flores and Hanover! I'm sure everyone will benefit from this new hire.
Congratulations

This is a little late to comment, but Congrats Wish said it eloquently. Hanover Schools will be the better for this hire. It is time to welcome this young man and his abilities and move on.

I find it interesting that this "person" from New York seems to know a lot about the interview prices, like Dr. Moyer wasn't involved in the interview process. Also interesting that this person knows how "smart" Dr. Moyer is AND Mr. Flores is. And how active Flores is. Awfully strange to know sooo much about this topic??? Oh, that's right, dr. Moyer has a another daughter in college in New York City!!! Why should this not surprise me that all of that information was shared?? I wonder if anything else was shared, such as questions to from the interview???? Don't mean to sound "small townish" but it is an awfully strange situation.

Nobodys job was cut, but somebody who applied for the job and was qualified for the job and was looking to advance to the next level was passed over for this job....

And who might that be? Were you on the selection committee? Stick to making excuses for motorcycle riders that crash and burn.
