This doesn't go far enough. It also lacks understanding of how the Feds have turned the process upside down.

Better Idea: Amendment to BALANCE taxation with an absolute yearly all-inclusive limit on taxation for any citizen or business of 9.99 percent. God gets 10 percent, government MUST always get less. Also, NO, NO tax breaks, all pay equally. Lastly, eliminate ALL Public Pensions except the Military and Social Security. The people have to get their own 401K, let the politricksters do the same.

We have to take back control of the money and benefits. It's the only way. Nothing else matters to them.

quickest way to fix the problem can be said in two words ....term limits ! no one may serve more than two terms in congress or the senate , and do the same with governors ! our biggest problem is career politicians ! these leeches have been sucking at the tax payers wallets for far to long , there would be no problem with social security if these scumbags had`nt worked out a way to raid it !the american people must force term limits on these crooks ! remember , they work for us , we do not work for them ! not even the president truly has the final word , that is reserved for the people of this nation , and it is well past time we not only remember that , but do something about it !

We have the power to impose term limits by not re-electing them.

The problem is more than half the people in this country are not informed enough to cast an intelegant vote, but they do anyway based off of what the government run media tell them to do.

Without PATRIOTS, the USA is going to be a spot in history soon enough. AMERCIA put down the Ambien and see what the government is doing to you and this great country. Not only on the national level, but the local level too. Rise up and CHANGE it before it is at the point of no return!

First off, The Constitution of The United States of America does not need to be fixed. It merely needs to be adhered to. It's been side-stepped by so many politicans that I don't think they know they are there to be the voice of the People. Most just like to do what they want to and the hell what their constituants need.

The article doesn't go into the dept the book does....The most effective way to end the abuse by the government is to close the loopholes in the legislative processes that avoid the required process listed under article I section 7....The Congress has allowed the use of alternative modes of making legislation to by-pass the rule of majority with use of expanded interpretations, grant funding, reconciliation, independent agency, and foreign treaty....

What the amendment specifically focuses on is challenging the alternate modes of creating legislation that has been allowed by the Federal government to make law by avoiding the rule of majority that is the foundation of democracy. There are two modes of creating legislation stated in Article V and legislation by interpretation is not one of them, neither are laws created by independent agencies, reconciliation, grant bribery, of laws and taxes negotiated in a foreign forum for the purpose of restricting, capping or restricting domestic manufacturing....This amendment gives the people back our constitutional right of final consent which has been taken from us by these alternate methods of making legislation

Your absolutely right and the amendment is not fixing the constitution it is adding one more step to the Civilian checks and balances because prior to the civil war the final consent of the people ended with our vote to elect an official to office. Since then with the use of expanded interpretation and other unauthorized methods of creating legislation have eliminated the rule of majority and only when legislation is ratified by rule of majority can it carry with it the final consent of the people.

Read the article again...I started the book five years ago. The research in the book goes back to the end of the civil war and no place in the book does it refer to obama...the problem began long before Obama, and the 111th Congress.....I've got people from anti-tea party groups that have signed the petition because neither party is representing us. We are on the same side - we the people.

I appreciate your comments and realize that the article doesn't give sufficient information...Its a news paper and they have limited space. So anyone that wants to discuss this further your welcome too. I've been in debate about the amendment before. the online petition can be found at www.thepetitionsite.com/1/ratification_of_abs...

Who knows...I just may be right!

Kind of the pot calling the kettle black Robert.
Do you honestly think we need even more process in how our government does business. The solution to our problems is eliminating the 2 party system that is beholden to the special interests on both sides. The current system is designed so each side throws out their red meat social issues, causing dem and repub voters to squabble and bicker while they literally laugh all the way to the bank at our stupidity. You don't need to change the constitution (how dare you call yourself a "tea partier" and offer this solution.) We need to abolish the 2 party system and "elect" officials not beholden to their respective special interests, but to the people that elected them.An earlier poster stated "follow the money" - it will lead you to the RNC and DNC. Both are opposite sides of the same coin - corruption and debauchery

Now here is a rational thought... instead of us all wasting all of these brilliant pixels commenting on a poorly titled article about a very important Topic, why not meet and discuss the Constitution in person at the next Hanover Tea Party Patriot Meeting. The meeting is August 31st @ the Railside Dinner behind the library @ 7:30 in Hanover.
This way we all get to meet and do something else besides trying to sit here Fixing the Government (What the article should of been TITLED) sitting in front of our computers! See you on the 31st Robert! Great little Book!

I think most of us have come to agree with you on this one! It is a shame that after these next words I quote, they did not include a mutiple choice plan of action:
"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."
...especially when we have no real choice in the voting booth!
One final quote:
"we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex... The potential for the disastrious rise of misplaced power exists and will persist... Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together." Ike's farewell address 1961
