I have been an independent distributor with 3 different companies over the years, and Snyders, by far is the worst. I have never heard of a "sales" company paying us they way that they do. You are afraid to load anything on your truck for fear that you will not get a paycheck the following week.. They do the complete opposite of what a legitimate sales co. would do.
And the "independent" title? what a joke
I am just an employee with expenses...there is ALWAYS something that you are not doing well enough, and the managers let you know about it.
What a terrible company

Kim I agree with you on how they charge us....it is screwy. But you do get paid for your work a week or two later. Its a matter of budgeting. Also the last time they bought back the routes I made 3 grand for building my route up for the prior 8 months. Some guys made 3 times what I did. There are pros and cons to this line of work for sure. And it does make a difference on the size route they configure for us. The bigger the sales per week adds up to more money in my pocket which converts to me staying in business. Any less than 8 grand a week in sales makes it impossible to keep the business going. Thats how you need to think of it at least. We all will have individual busines's. I havent decided for sure what I will do...stay or leave.... I am going to wait for the new route presentation and all the info in April to make the decision. Again good luck to all.
Please keep us informed after April 13 meeting..We here in Atlanta are so fed up already and we figure it can't get any worse-but then again...it's Snyders Thanks

Until everything settles and the meetings all start lets try to remain hopeful that things will get better not worse. If everyone bands together and causes enough of a wave maybe they'll realize it is the driver who ultimately earns them their money.

Also everyone should look up if you have not already the IRS definition of an IO versues an employee. If you feel without a doubt you are being treated as an employee file a complaint with the IRS.

Yes Lance sucks here. Its not the same company here as it is in the Carolina's. Lance has the worse employees out there. Their shelves stay empty and the stores are lucky to get once a week service. All my customers cannot wait for us Snyders IO's to take it over. I have been told time and time again that if it wasnt for Cape Cod selling so well here they would throw Lance out the door.

Im out there 6 days a week and on big weeks 7 I make a 5 year plan and bust my balls! I split 2 years ago and got my initial investment back was getting ready to split again!! But Im lost!!!!!!!!!
What do you average in sales per week? I also work 6 days a week but you can only sell so much and keep the shelves full. Out west we don't have the space that you guys do in the east.

Something else everyone needs to think about is the fact that they will have two product lines on their trucks instead of one. Even if routes are condensed (which I seriously doubt) they will be big. By the looks of the job postings around the country they are either adding routes or alot of people are jumping ship.

What states have Snyder IO's? From what we have seen alot of the midwest is serviced by Mikesell's drivers. There are many people who leave shelves empty either because they just don't care or were dumbfounded when they got into the route business.

Sounds like it will be easy to build up some equity on your route by providing service on Lance products.$$$$$$$$

Me and another IO are going to have meeting with an attorney. We are going to have him review our current contact, then represent all the IOs in our area if everyone agrees to have representation at the selling and buying of the new routes. I believe as owners we should have our own legal team to make sure our best interests are taken into account not just Snyder's Lance. I also believe the new contacts should read Independent Owner seeing we own the territories. We have ownership just the same as the vested stock holders.

Listen guys being an io is very simple since your load changes over every thursday you need to go back to the warehouse on thursday with your truck very light preferably almost empty then load it to the max for the weekend and i gaurantee you will get a nice check every week its not rocket science i have an 8000 a week route and i go back thursday heavier than most guys and i still pull a 1000 check and thats with a 560 weekly note on my route that they take right off the top and the 35 weekly fee for the handheld so that means no note and i would be taking home 1600 basically the 18% average

Brian,

How much did you finance for your route? I figured a 15 year loan and 12.5% and that only figures in at less than 1000.00 per month.
