WSoxfan,

From what I can see the route you are referring to :costs $128,000? That would be around the 17:1 ratio, which for this area is a great ratio. It averages around $7541/week in sales. And the eekly gross check before expenses is around $1100.
Have you found a truck? Figured the insurance, liabilty, maintenance, computer costs, health ins, gas, and all other costs? Cause I personally feel the route, right now, isn't large enough to make money right away. If you are financially stable then over time you can build up the route and be successful. I just think $7541/week and $1100 gross check before expenses is too little. Others might disagree, and their comments are welcomed....anyone?

I cannot run a route for Snyders that is doing less than 8000. With your route note and expenses by the end of the week you might pocket 650.00. As for taxes, I have never paid federal or state taxes during the year or at the end of it. For this to work for you, you must have a truck payment, enough miles, a route note, a spouse that pays in during the year, children (more the better), child care that will give you a payment statement and a mortage. I keep everything I spend money on. If me and someone goes out to eat I make sure that I talk business with them so I can write it off as a business expense. If I drive my personal car to one of my gro stores to pick something up for the house, I make sure I front up the shelf and claim the miles as a pull up. Guys sit down with your acct and talk about these write offs. You'll thank me later.

All these posts and not 1 person has answered a question I have asked on here three times. It is about selling to Wal-Mart. The everyday low cost that Wal-Mart is paying for our product is so low, how are we going to make any money selling to them as an IO? They are buying Lance crackers for less than IO cost with no promo allowance. So someone, anyone, please tell me how we make anything selling to them at a loss?

No one has answered you cause no one knows. Only mgmt knows and they will not disclose the info to you. We are getting porked and you'll like it cause "Walmart is the number one retailer in the country." Ask your DM or mgmt team and see if you get an answer from them. It's bs and that's why alot of IO's around here are gonna get out when the routes are bought back from Snyders. Lt the Lance drivers buy our routes, and we'll see what happens to them in the future when they sign their contracts.

You might be right. I will promise you one thing. I absolutely will not sign any document to close the route sale before I get some definitive answers about discount % and Wal-Mart sales. Either they answer to my satisfaction, or they can find someone else to buy the route. Undoubtedly they will find someone who doesn't rotate, doesn't merchandise and organize like I do, doesn't upsell and relate with managers like I do, and doesn't keep the bin in perfect working order like I do. Stay tuned to see what happens I guess...

You know what, if you aren't going to contribute anything positive to this thread, just stay the fuck out of it. You have done nothing but spread false rumors and negative propaganda since you started posting. Everyone here is tring to get info or help others involved with the Io changeover. We don't need you here spamming every page of the thread. Contribute or GTFO.

It's so ridiculous how far Snyders will kiss a companies ass just because of the name. Many times we have asked about the discounts with Walmart and every time it's a bs answer. So we all feel your frustration. A lot of us here do not support the sales and it causes a rift wih mgmt. You want compliancy, we want answers, it's that easy. It's a two way street. All the bs that Walmart gives we don't really care if we lose the account.

Ohio,
I's not about screwing the Lance drivers. We just want to make a living being an IO. From what we see on these posts this area will go from 19.5% to 17% going foward. Yes, Snyders will try to spin that the routes will be smaller, which will equal to less expenses and so forth. Fro what we know Lance IO's were getting anywhere from 10-15% commission. After the conversion it seems they will be getting a raise to 17% commission. Granted the product list will be a plus, but for us here to make te same money as before, we will have to work more for the same.

From conversations this past week I learned the following: Snyders will buy the IO's routes back from the time the IO first bought in, whether that be 1 or 20 years ago.(This is crap due to the fact the original IO's paid the ratio of 6.5:1. Our routes today have sold very recently for 20:1 ratio.) IO's will sign a service agreement to run the routes and when Snyders reconfigures the new routes Snyders will offer routes for sale at the same ratio Snyders purchased your route for.
I spoke with a Wise IO today and he was told by mgmt their routes will be bought at 10:1 and sold back to them at 18:1. That is illegal, and untrue. Some of the criteria will be (not in any order): the proximity of the route to your home, how well you get along with the store personnel, and seniority. We were also told Snyders IO's will have first dibs, then Lance IO's, then outsiders. If you have a loan now you will be promised a loan after the transition, even if you have bad credit. If Snyders and Lance IO's talk with one another you can get a good estimate on the sales figure for particular staores. I know some areas where there will probably be oe store for a route, because of how much that store is doing with all the Snyders-Lance products. I have heard the magic number of $9-10,000/week in sales. An IO can manage that amount and maximize and support every sale. I'm sure there are more things, but I can't remember right now. If anybody knows more, or different please do tell.....

Hello everyone. I'm a Snyders IO in the northeast.
We have not integrated with Lance yet.
I'm very interested to hear from those who have gone through the changeover or are in that process now.
Please keep the info coming, it's very much appreciated.
In the meantime, I hope this helps with Wal Mart.
I questioned the pricing as well.
I spoke with someone from sales accounting, and this is what you should look at.
On a Wal Mart invoice next to qty. delivered you should the letter "t" next to the qty.
This identifies a promoted item.
I went back and checked a specific invoice against what my credit was on my route settlement.
It worked out that my margin was about 17%(we work on 19%)
The difference in that I assume would be the split on the allowance.
Some could also be canisters which we only get 10% on. Hope that helps

The first day in our new warehouse was a mess. Its not nearly big enough and at our last warehouse we had a hard time parking where everyone could fit. So Snyder's taking the cheapest way out again puts us in a warehouse that has even less space for us to park. Oh cannot forget to mention once again, "if its on sell we don't have any" clause. The warehouse manager states, "I didn't know how much to order because I didn't know the retail was so low." Duh, doesn't Snyder's get the promo info weeks ahead? Then why cant they order to support the sale? What is Snyder ran by a bunch of idiots? How hard is it to order a truck load instead of half a truck esp when its "BACK TO SCHOOL AND FOOTBALL SEASON" one of the biggest times of the year for us here. Yesterday I could have pulled another 1000.00 worth of product if we had it. Last week I lost over 2500.00 in sales because the warehouse was out of so many items all because they were to cheap to pay to move it. We were told that everyone knew we were moving and we should have planned accordingly. What a great way to speak to your customers.

we are supposed to " go live " october third . in our meeting we were told 17% on grocery and 20 % on conv. stores. An extra 2 % the first 6 months on conv. stores for a total of 22%. As a lance employee we currently get 9.5 % and $175.00 weekly salary . Routes average around seven grand. As an i.o. we will make far less money .Lance pays all expenses currently.....gas , truck , insurance..
