Some I O tried that a few years ago and they ended up settling the case out of court. You can google it and read about it online. I have really considered having a lawyer go over my contract and see if we have any grounds to do that.

I googled it and it sounds like the right way to go. They can't just do what they want to people and use them for their benifit. I have heard they are only paying IO's who have had a route for a few years their original purchase price. That can't be legal can it?

Also if you check their ads for jobs they are not letting anyone know routes are going IO. They are just hirring like normal and the new drivers will get hit with the IO change over out of the blue.

Have any of you received your IO transition news letter? They are sugar coating everything and making it sound like this is being done to benifit the employees.

I am a "Snyders" IO in KC. We went equity 2 yrs ago. We make 18% with "shared allowance" 82/18 split. We will be re-doing routes here soon within 90 days. Big meeting here April 13th to explain the route buybacks and then route modifications adding all the Lance products......then the sale back to us. In the past they did finance those with less than perfect credit using the route as colatteral. Payment is taken right out of your check each week by the way. There is also a charge for your computer of 35.00 as of now. Hopefully this will stay the same. I totally feel for all the Lance reps and workers right now. I was an Archway Distributor for 8 yrs right up to the Bankruptcy 3 yrs ago. They still owe me thousands for my route. I know it is a shock to the system to be told you are going to have to buy your route and incurr all the expenses to boot. No lawsuit in the world is going to change that. As long as they make the new routes around 8000.00 ( at least ) in sales a week we could all stand to make alot of money. My fear is that they will make them too small so it is virtually imposible to make enough money to keep our routes in business. I also agree we should tell all our co workers to start bringing their info and thoughts here to this forumn. Good luck to all.

It doesn't mater how much a route averages a week with the way that they are paying us now you still will not be able to make a check every week. I do good if I do a small order but when I do a large order I get hung for 2 weeks trying to pay them back. THe way that they bill you for your order is what throws the money so far off. I worked for Little Debbie for 3 years and we had to buy our product and not the route and I made good money. When I first came on with synders in september I was only buying my route and computer, but since they started making me buy product I just can't seem to figure it out. If you get your order on Thursday that is when you should be charged with it not on Monday of the next week, because by then you have already had to sell most ofo the product to make money the week before. I hope things work out for you but as far as I go, i'm out when they buy me out.

Kim I agree with you on how they charge us....it is screwy. But you do get paid for your work a week or two later. Its a matter of budgeting. Also the last time they bought back the routes I made 3 grand for building my route up for the prior 8 months. Some guys made 3 times what I did. There are pros and cons to this line of work for sure. And it does make a difference on the size route they configure for us. The bigger the sales per week adds up to more money in my pocket which converts to me staying in business. Any less than 8 grand a week in sales makes it impossible to keep the business going. Thats how you need to think of it at least. We all will have individual busines's. I havent decided for sure what I will do...stay or leave.... I am going to wait for the new route presentation and all the info in April to make the decision. Again good luck to all.

The IO transition letter came a few days ago. On another forum I read where some drivers haven't been offered their routes. They say instead a distrubution company is buying them up. I hope that's not true and that everyone will have a change to keep a route if they want one. Snyder HO if you don't mind since you have been at this a few years what has been your average yearly take home pay after all expenses. This is so darned unnerving it would be nice to have a little hope.

Based on my research, and personal experience (Snap-On), ALL these companies (franchise type operations)try to "micro manage" what they want you to think is YOUR business. Not necessarily true, unfortunately.

I dont trust snyders anymore, Carl Lee says in the press release that it has been well recieved by the route saleman. He didnt talk to anyone of us in hanover because no one here is happy about the whole io situation. just more lies to make the suits look good. They make their money and the saleman get screwed.

I have doing some research and some other companies have a vote to determine if employees want the change. Did that ever happen?

I have seen the same press releases that routeman is talking about and I don't know of anyone who is happy with the situation either.

Also in the paper work filled to merge the two companies the wording leads everyone to believe that it will give the company the best of both worlds. IO's and regular DSD it doesn't say anything about shaking things up once the merger was complete. I did also see in some of the documentation that Snyder also lost a few million last year because they had not sold more routes.

So you are gonna have to look at financing a route for 10 years and buy a truck and trailer, and all the other good stuff that goes along with it. If you have been with snyders for 26 years how much longer do you have to work before u can retire. The reason that i asked is because a friend of mine works for lance and he has 22+ years and he has decided that he is not gonna sign on for a 10 year commitment that he may lose on in the end. I wouldn't want to have to do it if I only had a few more years to work. It is alot to have to think about, wishing you luck.

I am glad to here that I am not the only one working for this terrible company they call Snyders of screwed over. Let everyone know what the lawyer says. We have got io's here in Cincy that have gone three or more weeks without being payed and have sold well over 21,000 dollars worth of product! now you tell me how that is right. We also have another problem here if we go to our route supervisers with a problem all they want to do is jump down your throat and never give you an answer or try to fix the problem. So all the drivers here are afraid to say anything for fear of loosing there job.But at this point it wouldn't really matter because everyone here is about to loose everything they have already. Thanks for putting us all into bankrupcy.. We also have another problem cincy is all run by family so if you piss one of them off you piss them all off.
