Sinc I arrived back in town and read about the street crossing for the UTZ employees I have watched the situation. To my dismay, I have seen UTZ employees walk out of the plant and without even looking enter the crosswalks to walk across the street to the parking area or going from the parking area toward the plant. They appear to think that they own the street and any vehicles close to the crosswalk must immediately slam on their brakes because the law states (I believe) that one must stop for people in the crosswalk. The UTZ employees think they own the street and don't even look for traffic before they enter the crosswalk - they keep on walking - even right in front of vehicles going 25-35 MPH. These UTZ employees should be better trained by the UTZ Company Safety Officers to at the very least, stop and look both ways before entering the crosswalk, and if a vehicle is within 50 feet of the crosswalk, then the UTZ employees should wait until the vehicle passes before they enter the crosswalk. The UTZ employees MUST USE COMMON SENSE when using the crosswalks - UTZ Owners DO NOT OWN the Street nor do the UTZ Employees. In the event the UTZ Company Officials cannot or will not keep their employees in check about safe use of the crosswalks - then an overhead catwalk funded by the UTZ Company must be built to eliminate any potential for an injury due to carelessness on the part of UTZ employees. The crossing is not a School Zone Crossing - in this case - the UTZ employees MUST EXERCISE better control then to simply walk right out into the crosswalk without even looking to see if any cars are approaching. If you do not believe me - then drive down the street at various times and see for yourself the UTZ emlpoyees just walking out on to the street without even looking to see if any cars are very close to the crosswalk. Accidents at this location are more than likely caused by the carelessness exhibited by the UTZ employees, not by the vehicle drivers. The town should not be held responsible for the crosswalks - let UTZ build overhead catwalks and make it mandatory that all employees who park in the parking lot across the street MUST use the catwalk or face job loss.

Since I now know that you enjoy my post so much, I shall go out of my way, when I have time to find where you post and spread a bit of cheer to you. I like the idea that my post brighten your day. I hope you have a good day, be safe, and look both ways before you cross the street.

Oh no need to worry about me. When I cross the street I make the assumption (and pleasingly I am most often proven wrong) that the diver of the vehicle isn’t paying attention or is a complete idiot and will not stop. I look both ways and move carefully. As I said I am most often proven wrong and find the driver to stop and indicate for me to cross. But I do thank you for your concern for my safety.

BTW, how many names are you posting under?

I'd be happy to meet you in person so we can discuss our differences in opinion. Something tells me though you sing a different tune in person than you do sitting in your mommies basement using her computer.

This kind of comment from a guy that markets himself as a "jack of all trades", has a scraggly beard and is single. You probably did not even graduate from high school.

This is a problem all over!! People just automatically think they have the right to step out into traffic. They cross the street and take their good time about it!

And Just MY Honest Opinion Says---

Sorry, I didn't say it was a smart or the right thing to do, but the law is on the pedestrians side after they are off the curb! It then does become a STOP sign for the vehicle.

Cant' believe she hasn't showed up lately.

I'm here but there isn't much more to add that hasn't already been said.
The law's the law. Stupid, inattentive drivers and pedestrians just don't mix very well!

I just avoid driving past Utz during times when shifts are getting out and I avoid driving past the front of Walmart. That helps solve the problem for myself at least.
