It would probably get more attention and consideration if they called it "Hanover Skate-Park Housing Development"

Big Ideas

This kids have alot of big ideas, for most having never worked a day in the lives. This will die down, once they have to actually work for it.

Wow

Oh, we shouldn't worry about it, but you want to take over part of Good Field or the Myers Playground.
Oh, my. The mind reels at the naivete.

The park obviously has a lot of support. I am confident that the skaters/bikers will get their park.

Sometimes, people just see things differently, but that's hard to see when you are insulting the people you want to support your cause.

Sk8er, You say you do not want anything for free ( "Just handed to you") but yet you want the Borough to give/lease land to this idea for what,$1. Very close to handing it to you don't you think? If you want this so bad, do like everyone else that has had an idea. Find investors and buy your own land.

Find investors and buy your own land. thats just for the land, there are WAY more costs to a park then just the land.dont get me wrong,we do need some help.there are a few different ways to do it. of corse were going to try to save money first but if they dont agree were going to have to go a different route that will cost more. were planning fundraisers and finding investors.when i say fundraisers i dont just mean selling candy or pizza but having benifit concerts and other events.just getting that organized is hard work, let alone setting up the venue and everything that goes with it.whats wrong with getting help with the process?

A good step toward changing that perception would be to stop trespassing and damaging the property of others and to publicly encourage other skaters and bikers to do the same. Until you admit that breaking the law is wrong and shouldn't be part of your culture, you'll have a hard time getting people behind you.

"Myers Memorial Playground on Filbert Street and Good Field off Forney Avenue also would be suitable places" Myers Memorial Playground has been the practice field for UTZ patriots Football and Cheerleading for as many years as I can recall and it also has a playground and baseball field located within it. So the plan is on bumping already existing/established used for other things locations?? That is not cool!! and should not even be a thought. It's like saying lets build it on Moul Field or Baer Ave playground/basketball courts. It's just not right if there is already established events located there. Plus Myers Memorial playground is in 2 different townships/boro's (Hanover and Conewago) How would that be handled?? Two totally different regulations/zonings etc. I would look for private land if your looking for at least 5 acres to build on.

sk8er wrote: <quoted text>but not the whole park.its all or nothing with you and thats not reality.keep on finding loopholes in my comments. Then why did you say in the previous thread "WE DONT WANT A FREE HANDOUT"? You have been the one telling anyone who disagrees with you that their opinion doesn't matter and they should mind their own business and that you would do all the work yourself, and then you come in and ask for a piece of land, basically for free. That's a handout, son.

So far the group wanting the park keeps making requests for different pieces of land to use. If they are truly dedicated to this idea of a skatepark, I would suggest they actually get some funds raised or committed sponsors and donors and then go to the boro. Let them see that it is more than just talk. I would be far more accepting of the idea, if I could see actual $ committed. Good luck in your efforts!

NO THATS NOT A HADNOUT SIR.do you know how much it costs to build a skatepark?i never said if people dont agree with me their opinions dont matter.if you have noticed if someone has a genuine concern and they arnt a dick about it,i anwser their concern to the best of my ability and im willing to conversate with them.but then theres people like you who are smartass about everything and say stuff in a dickhead manner, then i tell you your opinion doesent count b/c it doesent.

sk8ter,
I have been reading ALL your posts and interested in what you have to say, BUT, you are not winning over anyone with your juvenile comments.
1. All opinions count, not just yours. 2. If you can not take the criticism then drop the idea, because you will see a ton of it with your proposed project.(and not just from the people here)
If you want to be a spokesperson for this idea, I would suggest changing your attitude and maybe taking a course in Public Speaking.
