I heard from a lot of people at school that Hot Topic in the North Hanover Mall is closing and will be replaced with a Hollister. I'm not sure if it's true, so it'll help if anyone knows.

Hey.. It is true.. but not the way you think it is. Hot topic did close to make room for the building of Boscoves but that failed after boscoves went into bankrupsy and they stopped the building of the hanover location store. It sucks that the hot topic closed in the hanover mall. I used to go there frequently but the main reason I liked it was not because of the SCENE KIDS...ICK... But because they allowed in store music performances and as a musician myself, It ment that I had another place to play live and do my thingg.. SOOo I got excited.. but now that it closed.. there iwll be one less place for me to perform... :P oh well..

ALSO NOTE Hot Topic is not CLOTHING all their stores along with Spencers. They make too much money to close and shut them all down. They are going to stay up and operational. My friend works for them at the head quarters and last years profit beat that of HOLLISTER.. YESS.. HOT TOPIC SOLD MORE CLOTHES IN 2009 THEN HOLLISTER AND ABERCROMBIE COMBINED... so that says something.. and spencers... you cant have halloween without them. They are not closing as well.. they are also remaining open.

Spencer's is not part of this discussion. Their sales are up YTD and they are doing well. Hot topic on the other hand is closing 40 - 50 stores in 2011, cutting management positions up to 14 percent. My thoughts are that they murdered themselves by carrying that twilight merch a couple years ago(and makings lots of dollars) and aren't able to catch up on their last years comp.

Since I last wrote the comments. Yes hot topic the store is noooot doing well. It is the online store that's doing better. I'm not supprised either. I stopped shopping there. Its for scene kids. I greew up and got wiser. I'm sticking to vintage stores and goodwill for my band shirts.

Um, hi. I think if you looked at me, you'd call me a "preppy bitch" too, but I LOVED Hot Topic, and have been shopping there for years. Can we stop stereotyping people at first glance and maybe look a little deeper? My boyfriend is one of those "scary people in black" and we love each other, so stop and think before you paint everyone with the same brush. Underneath we're all the same.

Hey, I think I saw you play there once. Do you play at any other places?
