The U.S. government spends $600.00 a minute fighting the drug war. All that money and the war is still never going to be won.

It sounds to me like the police are involved in the task force and are making attempts to do their best. Read the local magistrate's docket, police log, and check the FBI's web site for UCR (Uniform Crime Report data). Plain truth is that everyone, every community, every police department is behind the power curve. The constitution that we provides us with our essential freedoms also protects the drug dealers from unlawful search and seizure, illegal questioning, and techniques that would most likley turn the tide and make a difference that would benefit the youth of our nation.

The answer to this probelm..same as any war is the following: more troops or cops, stricter enforcement of existing laws, curfews, and relaxed societal views/court decisions on arrests, search and seizure, and use of force...

If you are not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about.

Keep up the good work and give 'em hell, Chief Whitson.

Thank you Erin James for covering the meeting and writing an excellent article about it. The comments are interesting, and some indicate just how much we need to educate some people.

My son comes from a two-parent, actively- involved Christian family, loved attending our summer church camp, even served as a counselor there for two summers. We ate dinner together almost every night. I only worked part-time in order to spend time with my kids. He was in sports, youth clubs and musical groups. He was a good student. He also suffers from chronic depression. He turned to drugs.

He knew exactly who to go to get heroin or oxycontin. We had a hard time finding the right combination of antidepressant, doctors and therapists -- and if we found them, sometimes insurance wouldn't cover the cost.

What the bible-beaters and "discipline 'em right" writers ignore is that each person has free will, and will make their own choices. They also don't realize that substance abuse is often a problem coupled with mental illness, and once a person abuses the drug, they have the disease of addiction. We know that diabetes and heart disease are related to and exacerbated by our lifestyle choices. As a society, do we punish the person on insulin or Lipitor? No, we treat them. Let's treat people who abuse drugs.

Citizen, what you are describing is akin to the Gestapo. Do we really want this in our country? Our freedoms are slowly being taken away. Huckabee, the Bible thumping candidate, actually said he would like to outlaw smoking in the United States. What a nut job.

You really need to learn better grammar and spelling. Maybe you could find a job if you furthered your education.

Well all I have to say is that I don't think holy rollin is a definate answer either. "I believe" but I can truly say that I have only been to a church for my own marriage or someone else's and probably less than 6 times in my entire life. I've never been baptized and my parent's divorced when I was 2 years old. I've NEVER once touched drugs at all. So coming from a picture perfect family doesn't dictate the outcome of the person and the person's habits. I think it has a lot to do with parent involvement and how you are raised...and you can provide a positive environment for your child-even in a broken home.
We are glad you are not affected by drugs. However, if you read what I said I was talking about statistics. There are plenty of people who do not believe in God yet do not do drugs. But the majority of those that do, are not raised in Christian homes. I in no way meant to offend you. Everyone has a right to deny God. He gave us a free will. But I ask this, if you were to die today, where will you end up (no, not talking about your body in the ground, I am talking about your spirit) Has nothin to do with holy rollin! All I know, is when I roll outta this place, I am rollin' on to Heaven to be with Jesus!!!

Well Concerned, with the risk of starting a pointless debate on God and the afterlife(since neither side has proof of their belief), that is what you believe. That does not make it fact. I myself am not sure what will happen when we die, but without proof,as a reasoning, thinking human being I cannot say without a doubt what will happen.

Read the book, "90 Minutes in Heaven" and then you tell me! I'd rather live life as though there was a God and die to find there was no God, than to live life as though there was no God and die and find there was a God.

I was always under the impression that scripture states that the judgement comes after the resurrection. Why this person would go directly to heaven is not scripturally sound.

Raised by 1 parent.
Went to Church sometime.
Always went to school, because you just did!
I was always told and taught drugs are wrong. "Don't ever let me catch you with them."
Perhaps the fear of my parent was enough - whoops, again - it was those 2 things called respect and discipline.
That's all it took me AND my 4 siblings.
I turned out just fine, I think!

I think what Cathy is doing is great. It gives other parents a chance to learn more and have someone to talk to. I was lucky and never had this problem with my own children, but I feel for the parents who have to go through this. God Bless you for your work.

the problem isnt the drugs its the way hanover police handle them u could tell them till ur blue in the face who has them were they r and how 2 bust the people selling them. but they r 2 tied up w traffic duties i think they r scared of the out of town dealers as well .its 2 eazy 2 become a cop and most of u r either under qualified or its just ur job like the fast food guy who takes ur order wrong .do ur job and quit harassing inocent people and mayb u can bust more crack and heroin dealers and less potheads . ur wasting tax payers money and then telling them 2 mind there own buisiness basicaly . i could bust these people myself in a day and have personaly affered my services . y havent u done ur jobs? keep collectin ur checks or am i on 2 something if u bust the hand full of them u might not have a job huh guys and girl. either way the job u r doing is pathetic.

i think its funny how most of you people have never been involved in drugs, especally in hanover but you all seem to know what to do about the drug problem, and all this christian bible pushing bs is for the birds.and you people that say we should kill drug dealers, should be killed your self.i was a heroin dealer in hanover, and im a heroin addict in hanover.i sold to support my habit.i have a family,im a normally good hearted person,i just have a drug problem, should i be killed?i grew up in a normal home in hanover and i just got caught up with the wrong people.i dont use b/c im depressed,or have underlieing issues,i just like to get high,i like to stick needles in my arms,in fact i love it.who has the right to tell me what i should be able to put in my body,MY BODY!its also funny how people will put down drug addicts and say how wrong it is,but then when you go home at night you pour yourself a nice drink,to "relax"and thats ok?so what i do heroin,so what i smoke pot,im harming no one but myself.and as far as the hanover bourogh and penn township police are concerned there just a bunch a lazy fat pigs who are currupt and harrass people, including myself for no reason.they suck at there jobs aND they all have a grudge because they couldnt make it in the city,so they come to hanover and act like there big stuff.IF ANY POLICE READ THIS YOU STINK AT YOUR JOBS,STOP DRIVIN AROUND LIKE YOU KING SH** AND FACE THE FACT YOU COULDNT HACK IN IN THE CITY AND MOST PEOPLE HATE YOU,AND THIS GOES TO RANDY WILSON,DET.SNERRINGER AND ALL THE "BIG SHOTS"YOU WILL NEVER STOP DRUGS IN HANOVER,YOU WILL NEVER WIN.YOU ARE A JOKE AND IF IT WERNT FOR SNITCHES YOU WOULD HAVE NEVER BUSTED THE PEOPLE YOU HAVE B/C YOU ARE TOO LAZY TO GET OUT THERE AND DO IT YOURSELF.

parenting is the ticket!!!!! don't have any problems like this because i talk to and do things with my kids. and always have! never dumped them off at day care or babbysitters. it was tough but my wife and i did it. went 1000s of places we didnt wont to go or have the time to go. but we did it. u know i am telling you if your droping your kids off at the mall, bowling alley, friends house, and handing them money and thier under 18 your in trouble im afraid .[well i trust them] they want to fit in, they are popular, who cares? its not like that. dont fall pray to that! there your responsablity! do things with them! and u will be fine no matter what they encounter. dont trick yourself !have so much planned for them they dont have time to go or do things with anyone but you. and things they want to do not you. now its tough mind you but it can be done if you really care!

Rizzo is obviously a product of the drugs he/she consumes. I guess being a drug dealer or user makes you some kind of expert on everything... no, I guess not. Maybe it would be better to just disregard Rizzo's babble as the excrement that it is.

yea iam a expert of sports, ive been through more sh** than you ever will,so i know what im talking about, and to young father,i agree with some of what you say,but my parents took me everywhere, and always did things with me,and i still became a drug addict, there is a time when you have to let you kids loose or they will resent the fact that you sheltered them there whole life.if you sheltler them too much they will one day hit the real world and then want to experiment with things they prolly shoudent just to rebel against you.i do wish you luck and hope that your kids and you will never have to experince drug addiction first hand.and when i say its my body and i can put in it what i want im referring to myself as a adult,im 22 years old,im not condoning children useing drugs in anyway.
