If they are looking at $30 million in savings, that is an indication that there is going to be a lot of consolidation done in the office and manufacturing facilities. While it may be good for the shareholders, it may not be a good thing for the workers in the office in Hanover. Since corporate headquarters will be based on NC that means eliminations in Hanover.

Does this mean they'll be dropping the "of Hanover" in their name and on products?

Snyder's is--quite literally--one of the things that puts Hanover on the map.

It will be a shame if it becomes "Snyder's of North Carolina", which doesn't have exactly the same commercial appeal.

More importantly, though, as asked above--what does this mean for Snyder's EMPLOYEES and the local Hanover economy?

Seems like a tax savings for Snyder's too. Good for them and North Carolina. When more businesses move out, perhaps the PA Government will wake up.

The Gov wants to raise all DOT fees and with all of their vehicles... GOOD FOR THEM.

Too bad this is a done deal, and too bad the Utz merger didn't work, that would have kept the jobs in the Hanover area. While Lance seems to be the lesser known company, they are more flush with cash, Snyders in actually bleeding out right now due to poor management decisions. Lance knows this and was able to avoid being bought out outright because Snyders didn't have the assets to do so. So while Lance is effectively being "taken over" by Snyders, they procured ironclad agreements that the Lance name would remain, and their workers jobs would be absolutely secure. Guess whose workers didn't get that same agreement? The word on the street is that Snyders has already contacted an outplacement ombudsman to facilitate the lay-off of over half of its current workforce. Where are the local politicians who are supposed to look out for the interests of their constituents?

Not good news for Hanover no mater how they try to spin it. Good sources say at least 300 jobs in Hanover will be gone by spring. Thanks Mike!

You don't have facts. You only have your opinion. As I only have mine...only the people who negotiated the merger really know the details. What merger meetings did you attend? The purpose of a merger is to make a stronger more profitable company. Why would they shut down Hanover's manufacturing facility? There may be some duplication of office positions that result in downsizing but seriously doubt it will be 50% of Snyder's workforce.

Well at least they HAVE a job! Glatfelter's in Spring Grove works their people SEVEN days a week; at least at Snyder's they get one day off which is more than the paper mills employees get.

Yea, real American, you're right. Why not bring a few hundred more illegal Mexicans to do the work you think you are too good to do. Its people like you that are part of the problem in this country.

why do people complain about working 6 or 7 days a week. If you don't want to work that many days, then don't apply for the jobs. It's that simple.

Lance is a well known name in other oarts of the nation, Snyder's is not. I don't think snyder's is what put Hanover on the map. I don't think it is on the map at all. LOL

Looks like more unemployument!

Actually, as a previous resident in western and southern states, Snyder's is more well known than Lance. Snyder's has manufacturing facilities in Phoenix, while Lance is not present in many of the states out west.
Whats up with that

I agree with the loss of jobs at the corporate center in Hanover. Is that why I never even got a callback on the interview I had there for a clerical position? I think that Utz and Hanover Hospital decisions go hand in hand. For some reasons they always seem to miss the eight ball when it comes to opportunities.
