The other trail users are not going to like getting steamed and covered in soot. How is this thing going to pass the clean air requirements of the EPA?

As I understand it this is a totally private business. They need permission to use the right of way but they don't want any money from the government.

Lighten up folks. When I was a kid (oh brother-ancient old fart) most freight was moved by steam locomotive. Now steam locomotion is returning. It IS called PROGRESS. You know, like bringing back the FREE gas powered trolley car (singular) in the city. More progress. Next thing you know, the horses will be once again #hittin' in the square of York, PA. OK with me, that stuff really, really grows great tomatoes.

Hook the thing into York and then into the Light Rail system in Maryland! Lots will use it to commute!

Wonderful. Another great idea that has failed in the past. At least the genius' behind this one realize it will be a "not for profit" business; but how long will it continue to receive support?

Last I heard, the Stewartstown Railroad could be bailed out for under $400k. Seems like a better investment, with less disruption to a well-used trail.

Rumor also has it that the stewartstown railroad is actually ready to start giving rides again. If enough public support and the $350,000 can be raised, rides COULD begin this summer!

You can see this historic replica being built the first week of May '11 on The Speed Channels Overhaulin' and it will be built by none other than Chip Foose.

NAH; just kiddin'...; it'll be broke in '15 and we taxpayers will be forced to pay for it in '16.

In other news the train will make its first departure from New Freedom in 2013 and passengers are due to arrive in Hanover Junction by 2015.

Interesting, none of the officials in New Freedom have been approached about this "turn around switch" or the building this stuff is suppose to be housed in. Would think they would've planned this out better before shelling out the cash to built a custome steam engine.

It would be great if they ran passenger trains from York to Hanover to Gettysburg during the summer months.

Nope, its not the Codorus Creek Railway, but watch the CCR, they have their own plans :-)Steam into History is run by a great group of people, can't wait to see the trains run again.
