Southwestern School District Sweeping a "Toy Gun" incident under the rug

On Friday, the same day the whole world learned of what happened in Conn. a fifth grader at Park Hills Elementary brought a "toy Gun" to school and put it to the head of a classmate and said he was going to kill them. The school district refuses to comment on it even when I being a parent of a child at that school calls. We know now to look for warning signs in anyone especially children, and if this was not the biggest warning sign that something could happen I don't know what is. The school district refuses to inform the parents because it was a "toy gun." And to my understanding the child is still in school. So now everyday when I put my child on the bus to go to Park Hills I am sick to my stomach wondering if something is going to happen and what else they refuse to tell us. I think as parents of children in the school we have a right to know what is going on and how they are handling it. And since it was a "toy gun" the school NEVER went into lockdown as stated in their policies. Toy gun or not the school should of been locked down and the police should have been called to the school to investigate it, so we know this child will not one day bring a real gun and hurt the staff and children at that or any other school.
