People will never learn - this is a BUSY, BUSY HIGHWAY, not a leisurely drive thru a "park". I drive it everyday, many times, and cross my fingers I get home. No turning lanes and too many turn offs with poor signage - not that it would have made a difference with this incident. Please - BE CAREFUL!!!!

Who was passing who ? Was it the Sleep Truck Passing ?

On my way home from work yesterday, the sleep truck was making a delivery on Sunday Drive, they were very polite, waved me to pull out from Race Horse Road, they followed behind me through McSherrystown, nothing aggresive, just polite drivers ....

This is a bad wreck and that vehicle should never pass when not in the zone .....

If the report is correct, the guy in the pickup was west bound. At the spot described he was going up hill on a right hand bend approaching the crest of a hill. Best described he was passing on a blind curve, cresting a hill. Had to be drunk, on drugs, or just plain NUTS. Guys in the sleep truck didn't have a chance.

The small pick up was passing illegally. The sleep truck was not at fault. Stupid, in a hurry driver. Hope he pays BIG time for his stupidity. Some people will NEVER learn.

People who think they own the road are more dangerous than drunk drivers. He still caused an accident and will pay less fines and get no jail time then someone who has alcohol on their breath but caused no accident.

another accident that could have been avoided. I hate knowing there are so many asshats on the road. I have to travel from york to hanover everyday to work and I have to pray that no one kills me on the way. My parents go about crazy if I don't call them as soon as I get home. It's a shame you have to wonder day to day if someone is going to slam into you on the road.

I guess he needed to get to where he was going fast....he made it there just in time not to be late NOT!!!!
Everyone: Slow down and remember you are not the only one on the road.
Not only did this accident affect the life of the man who caused the accident but it also affected his families lives and the lives of the other men in the accident and their families also.
Even if this would have been an only car accident...It's never just an only car accident--because the person(s) in that only car do have family and friends.
Everyone PLEASE slow down and cherish the life that has been given to you!!

I drive from PA to MD everyday, and this is an EVERY SINGLE DAY occurence. On the road from Jefferson to Sticks, or on Lineboro Road, or Water Tank Road, EVERY SINGLE DAY someone passes me on a double yellow line because i'm only going 3 miles over the speed limit. I love it when that person who was in such a hurry ends up sitting right in front of me at the next stop sign (or better yet pulled over by a SW Regional police officer). Everyone's in a h*ll of a hurry to get nowhere fast... it's a shame we don't know how to relax or be polite anymore.

I drive this road a couple times every day. Someone passes me at least once a week on a double yellow line. Someone tail gates me every single day even though I go 5 to 10 miles over the speed limit. My daughter just got her license and I will not let her drive by herself because of this road. It needs to be patroled 24/7. The police will not have to sit anywhere else they can triple their revenue on 216 alone!!! Someone got pulled over a couple months ago for tail gating my daughter who was going the speed limit.

They ARE patrolling - don't be fooled. And as the article states - "Park rangers have the same powers as municipal police and have jurisdiction to investigate in state parks, Heffner said."
They'll get you, too - I HOPE! SLOW DOWN & OBEY THE LAWS OF THE ROAD!!!! It is a very dangerous highway!

That is why I like owning atleast one piece o' crap car. If someone tailgates, I slam on the brakes, if they pull out in front of me without stopping at the stop sign, I speed up and try to hit them...(or at least scare them in to thinking they could have been hit.) I drive defensivly, I always look ahead to see where I may turn or swerve incase someone pulls out in front of me.

Detailer the problem with"I slam on my brakes" is on a two lane rd.if they swerve into oncomming traffic to avoid hitting you then thats another head on accident that puts other peoples lives in jeopardy. I don't like tailgaters anymore then you either.

Detailer...You speed up to see if you can hit them? How do 2 wrongs make a right? You are just as much to blame as the other guy. And who made you owner of the road? Want to police the roads, go become a police officer. And by the way, it doesn't sound to me like you drive defensivly it sounds like you drive offensivly.

I own the part of the road I am on at that time, if anyone tries to make me go faster by tailgating, or run a stop sign to get in front of me... it is their fault........ don't beleive me? Tailgate me or pull out in front of me, if I have the right of way, let the insurance companies fight it out.
