I think it should be named the Sinkhole Drive or the Teen Tuner Turnpike! Shouldn't they also be thinking of a north/south bypass as well. Shame the brain trust back in the 80's didn't have the foresight to run 795 to the Turnpike west of Carlisle. Then 99% of this truck traffic would not be a problem. Oh wait they kinda did...but all the NIMBYs from Maryland and PA wined and wined...and now they are gone and we have this mess.

Mcsherrystown is worse since Eisenhower drive was invented
Would you please explain that statement?
I don't quite see the connection of Eisenhower Drive and McSherrystown.

I am sorry but I try to avoid McSherrystown at all costs because the roads are small, the traffic light is disfunctional in terms of handling traffic appropriately, etc. If there was a bypass, McSherrystown could stay the small village it is. So either build the buypass or get moving on making the traffic patterns more condusive to the heavy traffic it receives.

And as for cost - everyone should foot the bill and Conewago TWP needs to just grow up.

We want a bypass to go to Maryland. Duh....
Who wants to go to Maryland...they can stay where they are, we already have enough transplants! All they do is whine about us not having alcohol in grocery stores, or the day we hold trick or treat, our terribly plowed roads, how we are not friendly and blah, blah, blah. Don't come here and complain or just don't come here! When we visit Maryland we keep our comments to ourselves!

I'd like Plan #2 to come to fruition! Marci, isn't there someone out there that has a pool without a fence.

Most of the truck traffic has a destination in the greater Hanover area. A bypass would remove very little of it from local roads. Traffic studies have confirmed this, what traffic studies did you use to make your comments?

Once again I say, "Thank God I live in South Hanover".As convenient as it would be to have an alternative route north/south(and an alternative route WILL become necessary in the very near future) I, for one, am very glad that most of this discussion focuses on the north end of town. When the time comes to create a bypass to Maryland, most of the petty issues will have been resolved.

Some of the posters have very negative comments concerning "transplants", of which I am one.
I WANT IT TO BE KNOWN THAT I MOVED TO HANOVER BY CHOICE. I WANTED MY CHILDREN TO GROW UP IN AN ENVIRONMENT MUCH LIKE I DID. I BECAME PART OF THE COMMUNITY THROUGH SCHOOLS, CHURCH AND POLITICAL FUNCTIONS. I HAVE DONE ALL I CAN TO BECOME AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE HANOVER COMMUNITY. It seems that it is the "native" hanoverians who have a problem

Thanks for sending that letter and putting this project behind for years. You are truly imbeciles. While you are at it, sell the skating rink.

Yea that letter was a winner. O'keefe has set this twp back ten years when it comes to those decisions. I didn't see the skating rink up this year. Was it up? I saw some kids drinking beer there a few years ago.

If she is so bad, why did no one run against her the last time? Conewago Twp. residents like to whine but will not step up to the plate. By the way, her name is Keefe. Get it right if you want to whine.

<quoted text>Lets get to the real point, If Hanover( York County) Would not have Eisenhower Drive, This would not be a issue. Most of the problems are caused by York County, So why don't they step up to the plate and help out with cash. They are getting the majority of the tax money and Adams County has the headaches of trying to build a road to help out with the traffic problem. I gree Mcsherrystown is a mess, but why is it like that. Get real people, Adams county should not have to foot all the bill
maybe all people coming from mcsherrystown should be banned from coming into hanover to shop and that would reduce all the traffic going back through. think that's a great idea. you want to use all the conveniences in another district but don't want to contribute monetarily. kinda like corporate welfare isn' it? somebody else pays and you enjoy all the amenities...

that's right, it is mcsherrystown's traffic problem as much as anybody else and yet they(mcsherrytown) don't care and don't want to spend money to improve their own community. what exactly are they doing with the tax money? where is the common sense and long term planning? come on mcsherrytown, get with the program and do your fair share.
Actually NONE of this congestion is McSherrystown's fault. The population in their borough was already as large as it was going to get -- they had nowhere else to expand. All of the development that happened in Conewago Township (which surrounds McSherrystown on all sides) is what caused the increase in traffic. And Conewago Township continues to approve new housing developments. They need to get their head on straight ...

I agree. Mr. Keefer should resign.

To learn about the pros and cons and of the feasibility of Eisenhower Parkway, citizen attendance at the next meeting when Eisenhower Parkway will be discussed is encouraged. Education is key when making comments and decisions that will affect all tax payers and our land use.
