With all do respect for your position Mr. Trimmer. Please find out how many hours the students really are in school for, less lunch and recess, then divide by four. You will find it to be about 1.5 hours longer, or about an 8-hour day. This might be too much for a student in elementary school, however, something to look at for starting with the middle school. What a great savings that would be to the taxpayers.

The four day work week is a great idea !Lot's of money is saved by the school districts; however I don't approve of a four day week for student's. That's too much of a break in the learning process. An extra day off would mean some student's would put off homework for another day. Learning is so important in a child's formative year's that a five day week is the most sensible way to advance intellect.

Make the day off on Wednesday, then there is no 3 day weekend.

They need to think outside the box, and instead of a fourday week for the students. run the the cooling and heating systems an extra hour five days a week during the school year and see how many days you can reduce the actual school year by. That way you can reduce the total energy cost overall by: 1.) you already have the buildings either cooled/heated for the day whats an extra hour. 2.) any reduced days of school days can result in closing down the systems due to the fact that there are no requirements to run them.

Many schools in Georgia and other various places have been doing 4 days weeks for years and saving millions of dollars each year doing so. Something to consider for all states/cities/etc.

Whoooaaa! Hold up folks! Some folks are actually thinking about trying this during the school year too? We're heading in the wrong direction here! Instead of looking at 4 day weeks we should be looking at year round school! The major costs with school are

We're already paying millions of dollars for these year round and only getting 9 months of good use! Today more than ever in this gloabal economy students/young adults need every competitive advantage available. The minor savings of variable costs of air conditioning and electric do not hold a candle in the wind agaisnt the qualitative values of a superior education. We need to arm our children with every advantage possible if they're to thrive in this brave new world.

U.S. students are already far behind students in many areas of the world. All this will do is insure they'll be ready upon graduation to be farm workers. Not that there's anything wrong with farm labor but it sure won't pay the bills.
