The "system" needs some tweaking, it would appear -- along with Mr. Gonzales.

If one of these selfish SOBs ever injured or killed a loved one of mine, he would no longer be a threat to get his next DUI.

What is WRONG with the system in New Mexico, where these ignorant scum are able to laugh at the process?????

This type of BS needs to stop and stop now. We have so many laws on the books and yet a**holes like this fool are still able to get around the system. How much time has this idjit spent in rehab? How much time has he spent in "cold storage"? What about the judges who let him off with a SLAP? on the wrist. The problem is with the bleeding heart jerk-off judges who let these people get off easy.

Susanna-we need something to be done. No more laws. A different approach and the appointment of judges who give a sh*t.

After the second DWI, how about a manadatory year in jail for every DWI they commit? This is besides all the other stuff they are punished with. This has to stop! Repeat offenders are dangerous and have low self-esteem and few moral values. They just don't care!

With most of these repeat DUI offenders, it is not what is important to them, the problem is that they are alcoholics. Most of them will never stop the DUI driving unless there are much more serious consequences for them. They also need to be put into a rehab facility to dry out, and then you can begin addressing the alcoholism.

That was my thought - how did this guy get caught seven times and remain on the road for the eighth time? By the way, did you ever read over your comment before you posted it? Your angry closing comment is so poorly constructed that it becomes a perfect example of your complaint...

The judges should do max punishment on every offense and stop the easy treatment (example: a female in Cruces just has to have an interlock on the car for a dui. No jail, no counseling, nothing. Should have had it on last week, still driving and drinking without it and no one is checking)
As long as the courts take the easy way out and don't use the laws they have on these people you will keep having the ones with multiple dui charges driving around

The Cops worry about why you haven't paid your parking ticket,so they can make more money and buy more cars, then they hire more people to man the cars.It seems the city could pass a DUI law like they have on "Red Light" tickets.

8 DWI's and he is still out on the streets with a set of keys? I think there are other factors to blame, too, not just his stupidity.

No more Probation, and no Plea deals. This DRUNK needs to pay for his time in prison including the court cost.
