Officials: Assessor's past not an issue

Town officials in Tyngsboro are standing behind newly hired Chief Assessor Joseph Gibbons, despite his involvement in two controversial incidents and the seizure of his work computer by Rockland officials that preceded his resignation there in August.

Just give the guy a chance. What I don't understand is why someone who lives closer to Tyngsboro could not be chosen. Long commute to Scituate.

The town's website has the Board of Selectmen's meeting minutes posted through May 4, 2009. We are completely dependent on the Lowell Sun's coverage to find out what's going on in town. What happened with the treasurer? Did someone get hired or is that the next catastrophe?
