What a horrible story. This guy saw 2 men asaulting a woman while out riding his motorcyle. He tried to stop them and they murdered him. It makes me think about what I would do if confronted with the situation.

Its a terrible story but not surprising. Hannibal has become nothing more than a haven of half-way houses, criminals, drug abusers, and the mentally ill. You would think after years of having the poor reputation that it does, the city would do something (anything) to improve it's police force. But no, nothing but scandal there too, and lets not even get into the city goverment problems. At least the last city manager is out. We're to the point where we drive faster through Hannibal and always make sure the doors are locked if we have to stop at an intersection. A shame.

This is a result of a failed criminal justice system, huge government spending and administrative bureaucracy without oversight. There's no liability on those government agencies that are spending millions of taxpayer dollars, and are not providing services to the taxpayer. If I was paid to fix your car and as a result of my work your car malfunctioned and resulted in loss of life, I'd be sued. How come the taxpayer, whom the government works for, can't hold the government liable for such gross negligence?

Someone owes the families of the victim, and the citizens of the community, some accountability. Of course,'we the people' are the only ones who can change this misrepresentation.

Sometimes you can't blame the other people(government); for ex., you might have a abused man or woman in a situation, they should make every attempt neccessary to utilize help that is offered through special services, take the initial step to getting help for themselves, that way, others won't fall victim to these violent situations. And if you see something life endangering , call 911, don't try to fix it yourself.

That's true, Sis, that people should help themselves rather than being victims, but the problem with your "Call 911" example in Hannibal arises when the officer takes 60 minutes to respond because he was otherwise occupied doing his girlfriend in a local park, or sitting in an office enjoying an evening of internet porn on the police stations computers.
