Try www.thedailystar.com . They have coverage for Oneonta, Walton, and other parts od Delaware county. There is a photo slide show about half way down the page. We live in Sullivan County but I have family in Delaware county so I've been checking that site quite often and they seem to have the best coverage.

My husband and I have a house on Cadosia Road in Hancock. All we've managed to get from any of the police while calling is that there is "extreme flooding" and that we wouldn't be able to get there from New Jersey tonight. Anyone know any current information? We're dying down here now knowing what's going on to our house.

Just wanted to let everyone know we've heard from our neighbors in Hancock. Their house is COMPLETELY gone ... our land across the road is underwater ... our house has at least no windows (the neighbor was vague when my husband asked about the damages to our house - makes us wonder if their house took out part of our house ...). We have to try to get up there to see it, but the neighbor doubts we'll be able too ... all the roads are GONE!

Jack - I'm not sure, as it was a secondary home, we didn't become too familiar with all the neighbors yet. I can tell you that it is the old Hazen house and the son liveD next door to us. I believe our number is/was 799 Cadosia

Daisy, That is the house I grew up in. My brother was your neighbor. I spoke to him a few hurs ago. He said your house and garage are stil there. The creek is where the pool used to be. By brothers house is gone. It is in pieces infront of Bruce's. He also said that the field has about 5 feet of gravel in it. He also said that the bridges are gone so it is very difficult to et into Cadosia. i hope this helps

Dempsey - is that the field next to Dibble's old school house?
My wife is Christy Burtch so she knows David and Linda Benedict down at the lower end of Cadosia, the Coons, Roxy, and Dick Price. Christy wants to know if you are one of teh Hazens.

Wow, it is such a small world!! My husband talked to Angie earlier today, so I had a general idea of what what happened in the area by the time I got your message, but I appreciate it so much! Since you grew up there, and Angie was hysteric when we talked to her, do you ever remember the water getting that high there before? My husband and I are going to try to make it up there this weekend sometime (we just called Angie and Nick and offered to bring water or food or anything they may need). We usually don't take 17, we usually go over 191, so we might be okay until we get to Cadosia road in which case we should be able to walk that far. We just need to get some good pictures and see what we have to do about turning it in to our flood insurance and such.

Daisy, Nick said that he was going to try to call you tomorrow. They are staying in one of Russ Bass's cabins. You might want to check www.wnepcom foe road closings. I believe that 191 might be closed.

Dempsey,
I've been checking that site a lot too. My family lives in Northeastern PA (Columbia County), so that was my local news station growing up and whenver something big happens up there, I find myself frequenting it.
191 is probably closed, there's a lot of bridges on it. 17 also has a lot of bridges too, we might not be able to get there, but I'm a determined type of person and believe me, I'll look into every way possible. I wanted to go up today, but the police in Hancock acted like I was crazy when I asked them if there was any way possible. I'm hoping, maybe someway will be cleared up a bit by Saturday that I can get my brother's F250 by.
This is just a horrible feeling, knowing my husband and my family and I put so much time into the house already, and now it might be totally destroyed and we can't even get there (I'm ready to get my pilots lisence!).:-(
Wish there was someway we could get to see our house!!

I am Christy Burtch (walter) I grew up with Debbie Hazen and Ralph, and I think her father was called "Demp". Maybe you are named after him? Anyway, I am wondering about the Price's, Coon's,Benedicts, Angie Vitale's family, etc. I hear that Cadosia is gone. For all on here that have friends or family in Cadosia, that is what I hear. This is really devastating. Main Street in Hancock was evacuated today and they are waiting to see if the dams are going to hold. A lot of people are evacuated to the School and the Baptist Church. I don't know where PA people are going as far as evacuation but I do know that my brother said one of the old stores on PA side was gone. I can't remember which one, but it is one of the old ones. My mom is actually stranded in Deposit, which is flooded. Let us know if you hear anything. I keep in touch with Bonnie and Roger Ostrander. They had to evacuate their store on Main Street today. I will try to get back here tomorrow with anything that I hear.
