" A bittersweet feeling as my ties to Kaua'i brings back many fond memories, especially being a local boy that grew up in Kaumakani to immigrant parents from the Philippines, the sacrifices that they made themselves to better their own livelihood, and through the strict, but traditional values of a tradtional Pinay mother that instilled in me to this very day, my "Nanay", those who have worked, sweat, a lot of tears throughout the many families that have made sugar their lives, is now a distant memory. I must commend however, Mr. Kennett, who I have personally met before I made the decision to leave Kaua'i for Seattle due to a lack luster economy, and w/ my hunger & drive to better my self like my parents did, to which my mother, who is the woman that provides Mr. Kennett's residence, as many of the westsiders call it, Westside White House, my mother is responsible, along w/ 2 other G&R associates, make that landmark area what it is today. To Mr. Kennett, I must commend you on a job well done, & also opening a brand new chapter for G&R. I request & advise to you, Mr. Kennett, that the G&R associates that WANT & NEED to work for G&R, and to support all those who have supported the company & you, I plead w/ you that the alliance that G&R made with Pacific West WILL NOT SCREW the loyal people of the westside that made Gay & Robinson what is today. I am very happy that the westside of Kaua'i is making progress in this new chapter, I am happy to see the spirit of Aloha alive & well as that is the very essence of the people of Kauai. Change has come to Kaua'i, but along w/ that change,
resistance from a few will hinder the impact of how Kaua'i will progress in the 21st century. The PREHISTORIC OUTDATED VIEWS of the local government must stop! The Mayor is doing his best to provide that. Without the support of the council, it don't mean a damn thing! This important milestone of Gay & Robinson moving on is a positive shift in the right direction. KAUA'I NO KA OI! WESTSIDE! "
