Another self aggrandizing story about surfing's most shameless self-promoter.
Is there no end to this guy's ego?

I've known Laird for over 27 years on O`ahu and Maui and his reputation is well known as a short-fused hothead with a surly attitude prone to water and road rage.

Sure, he would "like to be known as a gentleman or a good person" but that is so far the the truth it ain't funny. He has many miles to go to reach inner peace.

Truth is Laird is still so wrapped by his personal demons that he always seems out of place in the ocean.

My name is Theresa Sophia Breedlove and in the beginning of The Wild Windsurfing days back in 79'
and 80' I was married to Barry Spanier.
The first time I met Laird was after he took my 5 year old son windsurfing on his board out at Kanaha I believe. Barry had Zep that day so I am not sure. Big surf, big dump and Zep never took to windsurfing but became a surfer instead.
There are some giants who roam this earth that are almost too big energetically to be in their bodies. Laird had the presence of mind to hook up his mom and dad on the beach at the age of 5!!!! After meeting him I was intrigued by the mission he was on. Every and I do mean every time saw him out and about with or without the attention of other people he has always come up to say hello and find out how I have been doing.
Now you may have had a bad day or maybe he had not made it to Mt. Olympus yet that day but I support and applaud anyone who can break away from the sheep heard and become extra ordinary.
You Go Laird blessings on you and your beautiful family!
