Even though he's been cleared, this will follow him around for the rest of his life. There should be mandatory prison sentences for those who make false accusations.
Was he cleared, found not guilty, or charges dropped or what?

I googled "Eugene Payton" and did not find him in SCDC or the sex registry.

I just checked SCDC and he's not in the system yet. Exactly what was the charge he was convicted of? He will be placed on the registry once he is released from prison but only if he was found guilty of an offense listed on the registry.
So where are all his good guy posters now?

From NEWS 4 in Charleston:

Berkeley County - A Berkeley County Jury finds a ROTC instructor guilty for one count of criminal sexual conduct with a minor and one count of contributing to delinquency of a minor.

Eugene Payton, 55, of North Charleston was sentenced by the Circuit Court Judge Steven John for three years on each conviction. He was also found not guilty for an additional count of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor, according to a press release from the Ninth Circuit Solicitorís office.

The victim testified that she and Payton had sex on two occasions in his office at Hanahan High School, the press release stated.

I wonder what he was found not guilty of? Does this mean the victim lied about some things?
