We can only assume that should the day ever come that your children are hurt or killed by a "crazy"; that you yourself will be first in line to hug that person. You will go to the weekly visitations.
And again, you make a stupid, uninformed comment for the sake of attacking me personally...(Which only confirms what I think about you. Quick Sam, what am I thinking?)

I would say go back and re-read what I wrote about my kids and family, but since you say you "already read them" and yet STILL make assonine statements like "We can only assume..." in reference to my beliefs; well, that just tells me either you are a liar and you didn't read what I wrote OR you are stupid and can't comprehend what I wrote.

Either way, it speaks volumes about you Sam... It speaks volumes very loudly about you.

Spot, you are entitled to your opinion. I am in no way attacking you. I cannot feel any empathy for this woman. As a mother, myself, I cannot imagine what I would do if anything ever happened to my children. That is why it is hard for me to understand or empathize with someone who would neglect and harm a child. Plus, I am the kind of person who goes straight by the facts and that is it.

If I in any way, offended your integrity that is not what I meant to do. Like I said, you have a right to your opinion and the right to defend yourself. Sometimes it is really gratifying to have an intelligent 'argument' with someone -minus the insults.

The only thing I'll say is this... it's OK to sympathize FOR someone even when you can't empathize WITH them.

I know you say you would never ever ever do this to your children, and I feel the same way. I would die before I ever let harm come to my own children, but just stop for one moment... What if this was you? You come on this board and you say "I would never do this because I'm smart and know right from wrong." Now, let's say you have a bad year in a relationship, financially, at work, etc... In your dazed and confused state, you have a lapse in judgement and leave your kids in the car to die... Is it murder? Maybe not in a malicious sense, but yes... You can't tell your story because you have already been persecuted by the court of public opinion... but a year ago, you said "You would never do something like that." You are a normal person who fell on bad times, didn't know of a way out and had a lapse in judgement, and that very bad decision was tragic. That's all we're talking about here.

All I'm saying is life happens and unless you, yourself (that's directed at everyone, and not just you) find yourself in her shoes, then how can you possibly know what this woman was feeling, thinking or believing about the situation at that very moment? I don't believe her actions were premeditated murder with malicious intent (though kids died in her hands, so it's murder). I sincerely don't. She didn't go shopping, she didn't go get her hair done. She went to work. She didn't lock them in with nothing. She locked them in with food and drink. Yes, she knew it was wrong, but I believe in her heart, she did what she thought she had to do given her struggles.

My very 1st post, I even said I was amazed that I was going to take this stance, because I'm usually one of the ones who would beat down on this woman for her actions... So relating back to my very first post, can you understand why I am torn on this the way I am (especially knowing I would be attacked by the same aggressors beating down on her)?!?

No I cant understand why you would feel that way because I don't understand why this woman would feel that risking her children's lives was the best resort. Death can happen in a second and there's no going back. As a mother, the thought of anything happening to my children freaks me out so I ensure that they are not left in a situation to where that cn happen.

Like I said, we're all entitled to our opinions whether we agree with them or not, whether we understand them or not.

The point is, it's not unreasonable to think this woman sat on her couch a year ago and watched a news story about some other woman who did this very same thing and said "That lady is an evil murdering witch. I would never do something like this to my own children. I would kill for them."

It doesn't justify her actions. It doesn't de-villianize her actions. It just proves the point that no matter how loving or sane ANYBODY is, there is no explanation for irrational behavior or stupid judgement in the face of overwhelming circumstances and unless confronted with the EXACT VERY SAME circumstances and situations, NOBODY can testify to what this woman was going through mentally when this was happening. That is documented medical fact.

Sorry, I don't buy that especially judging from the information that is still being revealed about her. Sad thing is-there are women out there just like this who after the many reports that have been on the news in thepasy year alone about parents leaving their kids in a car and the kids end up dying. So sad.

There's somethings everyone should know by now:
1. Don't leave any living thing in your car with the windows rolled up - It will most likely die.
2. Don't shake a baby.
3. Don't tape a pacifier into a baby's mouth.

So, if ANYONE does these things they should be punished with jail time. Babies cannot protect themselves from the stupidity of others. Use your brain!

And that's the point I'm making... I guarantee (without meeting any one of the women who have done this during the past year)I guarantee that not a single one of them had the exact same thing going through their minds... but we're not in any of their heads, so who are we to say this woman is any more or less of a burden on society (regardless of any information about her past)? That is, unless, someone can pinpoint the exact time this woman snapped and began her meditated planning...

That's ALL I have been saying the whole time. Believe me, I am not trying to defend the woman represented in this exact case here... Closed-minded thought in one area usually leads to closed-minded thoughts elsewhere. Wouldn't it be nice if we didn't have emotions and instead all we had to react with was a set of laws? I know it's hard to do, but I encourage you and everyone else to continue to try to rationalize without emotions so... open and expand.
