Hawaiians are not capable of soveriegnty? is that what we are saying? Well, they have sovereignty as part of America. They will never have independence and most don't want it. Certainly, they do not deserve it.
Sovereignty is a provocative concept. One always has to use the model of early America when farmers and business were self reliant on their own continental resources. They refused to give England a perpetual honorarium for giving their explorers, America's forefathers, a foot hold. Imagine if all Americans were forever grateful for Englands support of exploration and development of the U.S. continent. The second model of Sovereignty is the break up of the Soviet Union. That is the model by which most other places followed suit. The native efforts follow the definition of the ideal. Very knowledgable of this is the U.S.. So the basic institutions in place from the beginning of its history in Hawaii is the military and the tax office. The vigor of the sovereignty effort is influenced by the U.S. tax system. The "Iolani Palace" is probably idealistic in form. Idealism is an American promoted cultural concept. Is it possible that self sustainability could be the base of this Sovereignty?

The monkeys at the Iolani palace are not idealistic hon. They want somebody to serve them a buffet and offer them money. They are a disgrace to hawaiians and to kalakaua. Read the article written friday by a roayl princess who condemns them as total frauds.

eye was raised with respect to my elders, love for akua, and to malama the aina. to help whenever needed with out being told. to work hard and pay my way. be responsible for my actions, and always show aloha. this is how eye was raised and how eye raised my son. eye believe in respect given should be respect received. but we know this is not taught in school. so for all us hawaiians out there remember,
our kupunas history has made us who we are. and so eye ask that we unite so my teachings are not in vein. live true aloha and defend us who don't know how to defend our selves from the evils of our aina mahalo

Alice, are you of Hawaiian Ancestry? If not, then how can you say that they are a disgrace? And monkeys? Thats a little harsh. I don't agree with a sovereignty, but I believe that they are bringing critical issues to light. Most Americans are not aware of the illeagal takeover or the fight Hawaiians are fighting now. OHA is not illeagal just because they cater to Hawaiians. We did not immigrate to America, America came to us. I am proud to be Hawaiian/American and would like to see future rights and privelages granted to Native Hawaiians.

I didn't know there was a "national" of Hawaii. And what are you doing in Madison?

I am a native Hawaiian, born in the national of Hawaii; and I believe in their wish for the old Hawaiian Way of Soverign Rule. But it will not happen. The USA will never give up the bases, the land or the power they have. Good luck trying. They are waiting for all the ones that remember Hawaii the nation, to die off. Blessings to those who try by peaceful means, but its gonna take alot of money. I hope this group has it.

We are fully represented through the legislature of Hawaii and the United States. We reject another queen and have moved beyond that. Let the clowns on the Palace grounds enjoy their gatherings. They have that right as they are Americans and enjoy protection from the American (our) Bill of Rights.

I think the pretenders to the throne need serious counseling and a REAL occupation. STOP embarrassing the hawaiian people with your poor tactics and disorganized antics for attention. YOU ARE NO MONARCHY of mine. YOU DISRESPECTFUL GOOD FOR NOTHING HAWAIIANS. I would never follow a group of idiots who pride themselves in stupidity, and selfishness.

Why the state of Hawaii or U.S. entertains your foolishness is a direct insult to the real Monarchy. Why they have not thrown you and your falsities behind bars only justifies one thing: YOU ARE NOT THE REAL QUEEN OF ANYTHING. SO WAKE UP FROM YOUR DREAM WORLD AND GET A GRIP!

NE 1 who looks at skin color or where some1 comes from is wrong. The term Haole is misused. The true meaning is "Without the Breath of Life". It wasnt used to describe the color of people, but the way they treated the locals at the time. I was born and raised in southern VA. I look as white as they come. I know my genealogy. I know how my ancestors looked at others. We are HAWAIIAN. We come from Ha'Wai'i. We come from "the place of the eternal breath of life". All man kind is our family. So, if you choose to use our language in an improper manner, YOU are disrespecting our ancestors. Our ancestors understood, WE NEVER OWNED THE LAND. We( Kanaka Maoli) were merely put here to care for the land. We don't own, we are only care takers. So, to all, Kanaka Maoli and those not, before you speak of our history, please understand it.
