That is a typical response from the VA hospital if they had actually paid attentioned to my symptoms instead of just saying you need to lose weight and you will be fine they would have diagnoised my Rheumatoid Arthritis 3 years early before i lost the use of my fingers, lost my voice and can't walk correctly.

Some ofthe doctors are great i have had two great PCP's. I had 1 PCP who didn't even botherto look at my record to see i had RA and totally screwed up all the progress my Rhuematologist had made in a year by not putting my medicine in the computer I had to stretch a 4 week supply of meds for 8 weeks. It wasn't till i called patient advocacy and filed a complaint that i received the medicine and a new doctor.

They need to take better care of us veterans not degrade and put us down to fulfill their god complex.

Well me and my husband are Va and we have been there several times for things. We don't have a primary care dr. and can't seem to get one. We came there when we first moved here and couldn't get one we live 50 miles away and they wanted us to set an appointment and come back on a different date. We set the date but couldn't come because of work. So we didn't get a Dr. So the next time my husband went in for a walk in he got the care he needed but still couldn't get a primary care dr. they wanted to set a different date. Now we drive 50+ miles to get there and can't just come back and back and back for the same thing. You would think they would make it in one visit. It's annoying since we live all the way in Mathews, VA. Actually that's what I'm waiting on right now. I just had a baby I'm supposed to make an appointment for a visit but i have no primary dr. I have to go in over and over. I just can't. One for the primary Care dr. than back for my dr. visit and so on and so on... it's annoying.

This is why I have paid for the premium health care for me and my wife. I have stayed away from Tricare and the VA for the very reason's you read about in this article. I want my wife to have quality care for her condition and Tricare and the VA just don't have the resources to provide that.

I wonder how many staff personnel are veterans?I bet the numbers are low.It makes me sick to my stomach knowing there are people who work at the VA that don't realize or even care what our veterans have sacraficed for our country.I hope and pray that most of the non- professional bums are replaced by more competent staff personnel who understand what these men and women have been through.

My family and I have had numerous horrid experiences at the VA. Hospital in Hampton! My dad was (deceased) a 100% DAV, suffering from "war neurosis," or post-traumatic stress syndrome! He was in the Merrill's Marrauder's Unit in WWII, in Burma/India, fighting in the jungles and mountain terrain. Virtually everybody in his unit suffered catastrophic injuries of one type or another. I have great empathy for those who have complaints about this facility. Ours were quite devestating at the time! Incidents such as - The time his right shoulder was pulled out of it's socket by an attendant! A social worker telling me, "you need to get him out of here, or he'll get worse!" (he had been transferred there after a stroke, for follow-up care) Lips chapped so bad, they were bleeding, and when my oldest sister asked for some vasiline, she was told they didn't have any on that floor! She had to go the next floor down to get some herself! It was disgusting! In one incident, his stomach was so swollen, it looked like he was going to explode! Only after repeatedly fervent complaints by my mother to his continuous cry's for help, was he eventually rushed to the emergency room for treatment. Turned out he had a blocked catheter! Yes, I feel for those with complaints, and I am one who would not want to see the government taking care of me in any nationalized health care!!! My dad has passed on now, and at last, he suffers no more from his injuries in the war! I hid my tears of pain from him for many years watching him suffering! If I had my way, I would simply give them a "Disabled Medical Card, acceptable at any medical facility in the country, to address their medical needs, and eliminate Veteran's Hospitals altogether! You simply don't get the same care as a regular hospital! If you wanna change things, require Congressmen, Senator's, and Presidents to get their care at these facilities, and sit in line with the vet's! Take time to visit a vet, tell them of your appreciation for their sacrifice for us who enjoy our daily freedoms, and take a moment to pause and give thanks! They deserve so much!

So everything is going good at the VAMC-Hampton, I take it. I mean no one has been on this site since 2009?

I complained about my doctor, not being a doctor and was transferred to a different clinic and assigned a "physician's assistant" as my primary caregiver.

Looking for all veterans peacetime and combat related that have confirmable issues to join me in a CLASS ACTION against VAMC-Hampton, the V.A., each branch of the military as well as the D.O.D. for allowing such gross disregard of our health and welfare.

I will be a week away, but I will be back if anyone responds. This is only the first post you will see concerning this, I promise.

I am in progress of writing a letter to explain all my issues with the VA Hospital in Hampton, Va. This is the worst care I have had in my life and I belive it should be illegal the way they are treating veterans there. Will write more once I finish my letter. This should be an embarrassment to the US govt and US citizens.
