What a shameful day in the state police history. I hope they can learn from this and maybe revise their pursuit policies.
Yeah. Get rid of the bright lights and noisy sirens and their useless guns that have only been used to repress black males. Keep on letting crime pay so your people will continue to have excuses for their behavior. Way to go HG in your usual style.

The fact is that the police did not cause this 'child' to crash. He was driving 83mph before the police started chasing him. There is a high probability he would have crashed anyway, and possibly killed someone else in the process. Someone who truly was innocent.

That is what they call people who die "before their time"....who gets to decide "before their time" anyway?

This just sad. Sad for this wayward lost life, sad for the parents. Are all of you sarcastic & mean-spirited posters perfect?
I have a "good" teenager in my house who makes stupid decisions. Maybe not to the extent of this young man, but ones that could kill him... forgetting seatbelts, speeding, etc. They have to reach an age where they are accountable, but that doesn't make it any easier when the consequences are this severe.

Now, I don't believe this 'gentleman' was afraid of anything! You don't get to drive that fast and be afraid of anything. That's crap and you and I both know it.
My thoughts totally mirror yours. I am sorry for the ones that will grieve for him, but really, what could he have been so afraid of HG? Getting busted? You are such a twit! Being scared of getting busted is logical when you are guilty of something like grand theft auto. BUT, speeding up vs. stopping is not logical when it is obvious that you about to get into trouble for committing a crime. He held the noose in his own hand and when he chose to go faster instead of stopping, he tied the rope around his neck and kicked the chair to the ground. How do you suppose the LAW is supposed to catch a reckless endangerment to society? Let me guess, scream over the police microphone, "I am gonna let you go this time, but only if you agree to seek entertainment at your local community center." Keeping them off the streets starts with catching them.

He was driving a stolen car, that's why he didn't pull over, that's why he was evading and eluding the trooper.

A foolish and stupid end.

My sympathies go out to the family for the loss of their son. They must have been worried sick while he was missing and now this. Kids always think they're invincible and that nothing is going to happen to them...no matter what their actions. Sad that he was wrong...if he had just stopped, none of this would have happened. Thank God no one else was hurt or killed.

Take care and God Bless!!!
How can you start with calling the person a POS and end with "Take care and God bless"?? Oh well, I guess I can find it within myself to forgive even a PPOS like you for being so cold-hearted and ignorant. You'll still have to answer for it later, and He may not be quite so forgiving at that point.

Where did it say he was black? I didn't see that.
He WAS wanted in VA Beach for a laundry list of crimes.
He WAS reported missing 3 weeks ago by his parents.
He WAS no stranger to law enforcement.
He WAS driving in a stolen vehicle.
He DID run from the police.
He DID cause his parents undeserved stress and grief.
He IS dead, from his OWN actions.

Well only he was hurt. So I guess Shakespeare sums it up pretty good. "Alls well that ends well".

I also hope his parents realized that they could have stop this. Their failure was his death.

The child was scared what the police were going to do to him? He had been missing for three weeks and the vehicle was stolen. Certainly the police should have stopped. they should have known that he would slow down the vehicle, call his parents to let them know where he was and that they should not worry and then he would return the vehicle he had stolen. Apparently you don't know 17 year olds. He was an accident waiting to happen and I am truly sorry that his parents were not able to help him understand society and life before he lost it so young. I am alos thankful that he did not take anyone else out of this world with him.

I really do not think that minor traffic violations at his age are really a "laundry list" it is the standard that most teenagers have. Granted, he seemed to be having other problems we do not know about as he had not been home in 3 weeks. Also, the article mentioned that this was his sport utility vehicle, it did not say it was stolen. Yes, he was exceeding the speed limit, sad it ended this way for him. I sympathize with how heartbroken his parents must be.

NO sympathy! His parents ought to be thankful he didn't KILL someone because then they'd be liable for a lawsuit! Good riddens - another THUG off the streets!
