I guess that's the great thing about our country, we all have our rights. This guy has the right to grow his hair any way he wants. The woman on the register at a Pennys store who wore a burqua(sp?) and spoke very poor English had the right to work there. The kid behind the counter at the deli where I get lunch every day had the right to have every part of his visible body pierced with God knows what. I never dealt with Jiffy Lube, but if I did, I would have driven right out of there quickly. I was at the Pennys counter with the burqua-clad woman and after listening to her try and deal with customers, I told my wife to drop our stuff on the nearest counter as we were leaving. I was also at the deli counter when this kid asked if he could help me and I said no thanks, I'll wait for the next guy. Apparently I wasn't the only one as he only lasted about 2 weeks. So, yes, we all have our rights, me included. This is a great country.

Managers then said Brown could work only in lower bays where he did not have contact with customers.
What's he complaining about? In the "lower bays" he could smoke his ganja without the customers noticing.

If you want to be "one with Nature" live in a tree. If your job requires you to deal with the public, present a clean, professional image or get another job. Poorly groomed employees will drive customers away in droves, just what businesses DON'T need in this economy. Shame on these fools in the higher court.

Since when is "Rastafarian" a religion beyond worshipping cannibus? Sounds like an excuse to be a dirty, dope-smoking, hippie to me...

I think Jiffy-Lube is well within their rights as an employer, to establish and enforce a grooming standard for their employees. Apparently, they need to test for drug usage as well...

As a customer, I certainly wouldn't want some pothead working on my car.

Did you notice, wsnomore, that this opinion comes from the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court? For breakfast every morning, all the judges on the SJC in this state are required to consume two bowls of stupid instead of one.

What does one expect from a state that has elected Ted Kennedy for the last 35 years?

please, if I own a company I run it how I want! if rasta boy does not like it he can open his own place! and have his own rules! the judges do not live in the real world and make a fat salary off of the tax payers and try to be psuedo intlectuals! do not legislate from the bench! eventually the court system will be ignored!

He's supported a minimum wage increase every year. I guess you object to that?

Yes, I do. The minimum wage should be whatever the high-school dropout bums are willing to work for.

I wonder if the Supreme Judicial Court would feel the same way if rasta boy was employed at the country club showing their wives and daughters how to swing and perhaps a few other things.

Sadly, that's right. That's why Caroline Kennedy Rothlisberger or whatever the hell her name is will be the next Senator from N.Y.

I object to the minimum wage being raised as well. It's not supposed to be enough to live "comfortably" off of. It's supposed to be a starting point in kids employment!
