I hope that there was much more than is told in this story that necessitated the taking of the baby from the parents. An eighteen year old watching an infant is generally not a problem. Traces of codeine alone don't constitute a drug problem. They may in conjunction with MUCH other evidence. If not - there needs to be a good look at WTF this agency is doing.

The sad fact is that many of the social workers will ignore the real dangerous cases because they are difficult and potentially dangerous to them. They will make their points by over-acting on cases where there is little resistance or the family has minimal resources to fight the agency with.

Perhaps I'm jumping to conclusions, but...
A single mother who adopted a child (from Russia), taking in foster kids and holding down a full time job does not sound like someone capable of providing adequate care. More like someone with biting off more than she can chew - good inentions or not.

Wow, I hope you don't have more than one child and a job. Or maybe you have a wife at home with 4 kids while you hold down a high-status job that you think authorizes you to pass judgement on DCF. your identity is showing!

I know. I read that part and had the same reaction. As someone said before in this thread, maybe there's more to the story. If not, shame on the DCF - again.

Is there one topic in this forum where one can have intelligent and thoughtful discussion without the Kathleen Dickson rants?

Honestly, just one?

It'd be nice, wouldn't it?

But no, it always goes back to Kathleen and how she feels she's been wronged and her rants about Lyme Disease - like anyone actually cares!

The big problem with DCF is the numbers game.
The more cases they have, the more Federal dollars come in.
If the State stopped taking the Federal money with the strings attached, most of the DCF problems would be eliminated.

Jean Millstein and Richard Blumenthal have been covering up DCF illegal and negligent conduct for a long time. One or two issues that are obstructed from the public and court's views are child physical, sexual, and emotional abuse perpetrated by DCF staff and contractors, AND FORGING AND FABRICATING FALSE LEGAL DOCUMENTS. Shame on those two. Both of them have blown off and continue to blow off very strong evidence that my kids and others were abused and kidnapped by dcf. Furthermore, both of these so called champions of children and justice have participated in a well developed scheme to defraud every court related to my cases. Fair and impartial investigation of this trajedy by MIllstein and Blumenthal, I think not. Shame on you both. This childs death could have been avoided but if it not were for the practice of covering up dcf and assistant attorney generals misconduct, illegalities, and negligent practices. Sad,sad, sad. Both of you should be prosecuted for crimes against humanity. See you both in court and at the deposition tables. SINCERLY YOUR'S PHILLIP H INKEL

I'm not one bit surprised... DCF used it's own employee in our case..and she got paid the foster care fee on top of her salary!! pretty lucrative business...
I don't believe for a second that they spend any extra time in training.

This child was in the care of an 18yo and fared better. Shame on the family members who called DCF. Who uses babysitters that are well under the legal age of 18? Almost everyone I know..
The state should pay for all funeral expenses for this child in their "care" at the time of his death.
Then they should sue the state to the hilt. My tax dollars were mispent in giving this stupid woman extra income to "care" for this child and I don't mind monies going to the family who lost their child forever...

This is just another heart breaking example that proves clearly

"The Necessity For Foster Care Reform Is Written In Stone."

As an Advocate for families over the years I have seen clear abuses of power within the DCF System countless times. Though I must admit Darlene Dunbar did a better job than her predecessor Regaglia... it is still not enough.

Now is the time for everyone to see that removing Federal oversight of DCF would be a very poor choice.

I would like to know

1. how this woman was licensed

2. be shown proof she went through every mandated training and back ground screening

3. Was their imminent danger circumstances that really made removal of the child necessery. Who determined that the person caring for the child was unfit (probably some 20 something case wrecker with two weeks on the job training, not a mother/father, wet behind the ears as to ANY parenting skills whatsoever)

4. What stipulations were in place as to the child's care AFTER the case was closed

5. How much discretionary funding DCF used to PAY OFF the family member who reported the 18 yr old caring for the child, or what that family member was given in State kickbacks for DCF to succeed with one more child to feed their coffers.

6. What kind of discipliary action will DCF take against Suzanne Listo. Will SHE lose her license or will she be handed several more children to be negligent with?

Reformation has been a campaign I have been involved with over the years...as time has passed some improvements have been made.... but more is clearly required.

We need a form of Miranda for the Social Services class... using subjective warm and fuzzy feelings and or the corruption of deceit for snagging Fed funding is not enough.

"Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely"

Here is a classic and very tragic example of of power placed in the hands of the inexperienced. My heart goes out to the family. Having lost a child myself there is no greater pain a parent must live on with.

Agree 100%,
I hope this is the final baby who has to die or be tortured in DCF's care, before the feds step in and take the entire operation out of Blumenthal's "court" and look independently at all the cases where the parents have been lied about in "court" in order to kidnap the kids.

These lying hoes belong in federal prison for decades, and they know it, which is why they are so unbelievably vicious.

Unfortunately NO... she took potshots and my X husband and I on our Supreme Court case, which included a sidebar on my removing her from my former NEPAN yahoogroup.

I am sure you can all see that there was good reasoning for the removal and avoidance of involvement with her.

Kathleen,
I am among many who feel you need to just stop it now. You can not use every forum to champion your own cause. Seriously I think the majority of us are in agreement.... we are sick of hearing you run your mouth.

Aimee, I don't know about your first complaint, but as regards the second, you kicked me off NEPAN, because you did not want to do a group action, like a class action with all the abused parents.

To me that spells vanity and self-centeredness.

You did not want to be reasonable as regards ALL the parents being abused, because, you said, you liked to handle one case at a time.

DUMB.

DCF needs a class action against them, still, by all of the abused parents, as we can all now see. Only together when we relate to the world all of the DCF's dirty tricks, dirty lies and abuses, is this going to end.

You would have NONE OF THAT, since then it would not be "ALL ABOUT AIMEE."

Reading these comments only reinforces the late Frank Zappa's observation that, "It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity and make it work for you." Obviously the Courant is benefitting from the trend towards ignorance as whenever they run a story on DCF the ignorant, angry mob launches their campaign via the comments utility. More web traffic=higher ratings=advertising revenue.

Also, clearly, Jeanne Milstein has all of the answers. Why not make the Child Advocate the DCF Commissioner? Oops, wait, I think there is precedent there when former Child Advocate Kris Ragaglia became DCF Commissioner. How did that work out?
