Full story: Hampton Roads Daily Press

There can be few more sobering experiences for drunken drivers than being stopped by Officer Scott Mounger.

The nice thing is that this officer is actually observing drivers who may be threats. While I think the anti-DUI crowd is overzealous (MADD is right up there with the ACLU, the NEA, and the AARP in my disliked groups), this sort of enforcement is what's needed to get dangerous drunks off the roads. It's certainly a lot better than sobriety checkpoints.
I failed to mention..have a great night and great post by the way.

By focusing on the DUI problem in the East End, you are always focusing on the white drunk guys who drive to the East End trying to pick up hookers and/or score crack cocaine.

You would be amazed what happens after 2am.

Hey, if you do not want to meet Officer Mounger, its simple, donít drive drunk in the East End.

Your a better man then me. I just drive around the drunks.

While you are dealing with drunks, I am sleeping behind a building.

Note: we will both get the same raise.

He should sit outside the 'FOP' and go shoot for the record. I think he could arrest at least 62 off duty police with a BAC range, oh let's say, 0.10 to 0.32 slumpped over the wheel in a ditch.
The funny thing is that the FOP is not filled with cops on the weekend. It is usually the redneck buddy's that hangout thinking it will get them out of a DUI.

Have you ever had a Squad car pass you at least 15-30 mph over the limit, only to see him/her turn into the Briarfield/Jefferson av lot?
Once I was comming from Warwick across Harpersville rd to Jefferson. Speed limit is 25. I had a NNP riding my bumper. I was doing 27mph. I have an olds and thought about slamming on brakes. He tailgated me until he could pass and make a right turn on Jefferson. No emergency. Oh, and he was smoking in the squad car. Now you know why the Public at large have no respect for them. As 1 person said,"there is not much difference between the cop in the front seat and the criminal in the back seat..."

And you know what an emergency is how?? I know a few Officers, and if they ran lights and sirens to every call two things would happen. 1. You'd rarely see a Police car without them on and 2. crime would skyrocket since our criminal would see and hear them coming. Also what is an emergency call? Shooting, domestic, suspicious person? Live a day in their shoes then you can come complain.

Reno 911, all the way back to Barney Fife in the 60s; ask yourself, why would anyone want to be a cop?

He does have a life. He's risking his life everyday to protest ours, with little pay. Why is everyone so critical of someone who is doing his job, apparently very well by the way. Tell you what, let's do away with the police department altogether and see what happens. The crime will be on your doorstep. Why so hateful?! Some of you may need to look at your own lives and see what you've done for the betterment of society. Unless you're the poster child for goodness, check yourself at the door.

I drive slow to all calls hoping that another officer beats me to the call.
No paper work for me. No arrest for me. No court for me, which means I will never get fired for missing court.
Note: I get the same raise as all the other officers.

Officer Mounger is currently being investigated criminally and administratively for those very tactics. Seems he gets very loose with the truth in Court, which is an absolute no no. Seems he arrests and makes up the story to get the conviction and got caught. Maybe the mall will be hiring security guards.

The drunk pill popping teacher, who said he was going to stay at the Wynnwood (Crack hooker motel), was the liar. The officer forgot his partner said a few words to the teacher on the stop. So what. When an officer is taking notes, they are only writing the important stuff down.

How is that story working out for Mounger now. The truth always comes to light. No job and a felony indictment.
